We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Trecia Ayers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Trecia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I came up the with idea of creating She’s More Society, formerly F.I.T. Divas Society, out of the want to change the narrative about women and friendships. Often times we hear, from both women and men, that females can’t get along, they’re “catty”. We hear stories from women discussing their past bad experiences with female friends, or how they got along better with males rather than females. Now I myself have had a few childish bad experiences with females, we’re talking high-school drama here, but in my womanhood, I couldn’t relate to that. So I knew having positive and good relationships with women was possible. I experienced it, and I wanted to create an opportunity for other women to have that experience as well.
I like to think of myself as a girls, girl. Meaning, I love seeing women, winning, being successful, happy and getting the most of life and their experiences so why would I not combine that love with the knowledge I’ve gain from my own experiences to create that strong, positive lady friendship experience on a larger level for those around me. Why would it not work? I never felt it wouldn’t work the way I envisioned yet. I was given this vision for a reason. Everything about me made capable for this task and I was beyond excited to bring this idea to life, A community, a sisterhood of women, to learn, grow, and experience life together. A place were there’s women from different walks of life, coming together for one common goal, to build life-long, life-changing bonds, all in the name of sisterhood and changing the narrative, one relationship, one experience at a time.
While this endeavor began in 2016 under the name F.I.T.(Fierce, Inspired. Transformed) Divas Society, we officially became She’s More Society in January 2023. The decision for the name change came about because I no longer wanted to be a “Diva”. Over the past few years, prior to 2023, some of my closest friends and myself, had all been through some challenges in our personal lives. So the name change was to embody the spirit of women being more. We’re more than a job title, We’re more than a relationship status, our past, our mistakes, and any label placed on us!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Trecia Ayers, a 40 year old (41 in April) woman who is an Information Technology Professional and entrepreneur. I am the proud mother of one 18 year old son. I’m a divorcee. I’ve had health scares. I’ve faced financial hardships. But I’m here. I’m me. Positive, happy, optimistic, good me! Not letting the past hardships or heartbreaks change that about me. Through everything about me, I’m still authentically me. Wiser and stronger, but still at the core, I’m still that girls girl. That friendly face, That inspiring, motivating friend.
I got into women empowerment because for so long, that’s what I’ve done. Now back then, I didn’t know that’s what I was doing. I always thought I was just being a good friend that encourages, supports and celebrates my friends. I was simply being me. So this was honestly a natural fit for me. I take pride in the fact that She’s More Society has created a safe space for women. Some of whom have been hurt by past relationships with women. Some of whom don’t have biological sisters. Some of whom can’t think of the last time they actually had just a good friendship. In the organization we don’t just focus on friendship, we give back to our local community through various outreach efforts. We offer opportunities for personal development and encourage women along their journey of becoming the best version of themselves. We also support entrepreneurship and highlight some pretty amazing women.
I’m most proud of being able to create opportunities for women to experience life together, from travel, sisterhood outings, a book club and even the upcoming return of our magazine, we are here to showcase, love-on, and uplift women. We really want to change the way women to women relationships are viewed. We can support each other. We can get along. We can genuinely love and want what’s best for each other and coexist without all the negativity.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
What has been my most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been to just be me. Everyday I show up authentically as myself. I separate myself from everyone else by staying true to who I am. In the begging, I think I struggled with imposter syndrome a little. But in those moments I had to remember who I was, everything I’ve learned in life and realize that I was supposed to be here. I was supposed to do this and that is what really helps me to show up as Trecia everyday. And I think people appreciate that. No one wants a carbon copy of anyone else. They want your uniqueness, your realness and vulnerability and that’s what I give and it’s been working so far!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of resilience along this journey would be the COVID-19 pandemic. When the world “shut down” so did the F.I.T. Divas Society. I just completely stopped everything. I stopped showing up on our social media platform. I stopped sending emails. And with my background in technology, I know I could have keep things going virtually, but I just shut down. Maybe it was the fact that my marriage was coming to an end as well, but it all stopped. During this period of outward “nothingness” I grew. I worked on me, I loved on me better. I took better care of me. And I knew I didn’t want to give up on this mission. I knew this wasn’t the end of the story. It was towards the end of 2022 when I felt that it was time to get back out there, to get back and keeping running this race because it wasn’t over. In 2023 we came back under a new name and I had a better understanding of my power. I could have let everything that happened during that time period close the curtains, but it was only an intermission. Now it’s time for the second act.
