We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tre Wright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tre, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is the one I’m creating at the moment, my album. As a musician I believe that an album is you as the greatest version of yourself. It’s your Mona Lisa, your The Godfather, your To Kill a Mockingbird. I’ve been working on this project for years to ensure that it’s me at my best. From the production to the cohesiveness of each song, I want it to all sonically tell a story and put the listener inside the world I’ve created.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Letrevious and I’m an artist from Toccoa, Georgia. I began writing and producing my own music junior year of high school and I’ve been perfecting my craft ever since. I believe what sets me apart from most is that I’m not. afraid of being my true and authentic self. A lot of people have a tendency of conforming to whatever the trend is simply because it’ll give quick notoriety. I’ve never been one to follow what everyone else is doing. It’s easy to tell is something’s fabricated or not. I’d more rather take the path that allows for me to be my unique self regardless of how long its takes to reach my destination. I’m most proud of the feedback I get from people I’ve never met a day in my life. Receiving comments from fans all over telling me to keep pushing and that I’m gonna be big someday is what keeps me going.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is self satisfaction. As an artist it’s almost impossible to create something that pleases you. You’re always going to notice the flaws and what it is that you should’ve or shouldn’t have done. But when you’re able to overcome that feeling and enjoy the art you’ve created, it’s one of the most rewarding feelings you’ll ever feel.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
It’s actually a very simple answer. It’s not necessarily what society can do for artists, but what friends and family can do for the artists.
