We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tre Woodard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tre below.
Hi Tre, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My goal… my mission is to help other small businesses get off the ground and be noticed by their communities and eventually the world. There are a lot of people out here with great products and great ideas but don’t know where to start. Some businesses want to start over and change their image and products and need help going in the right direction. The Tresoul Network want to become that motivator, that crutch small businesses can lean on. You have to believe in yourself before anyone else can. Everyone wants to be appreciated and have that someone tell you they love what you do, and that they believe in you. I will be straight up with you and let you know that you have something special, and the world needs to experience it! Share your ideas with the world.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
During the pandemic, I was an essential worker, so I was out there every day working like it was a normal day when in reality it wasn’t. People were getting sick. Some people were working from home, some lost their jobs. I’ve noticed people developing illnesses and sicknesses because of what we are dealing with from Covid. Mental illness and anxiety were on the rise, weight gain/loss, people were scared, tired and feeling restless. Friends and family members were fighting everyday trying find ways to cope and were in need of outlets and help with what they were dealing with during the pandemic.
It was then when I’ve noticed something special starting to happen. Family and friends were starting their own business and it was so awesome! People were creating things and selling things on social media. Some were asking me to try their foods, clothing and accessories asking me for feedback. Thats when I knew I wanted to be a part of something special. With my background in Computer programming and graphic design and a history of working in retail and marketing I started helping with business ideas. I was designing logos, websites and promoting on social media outlets spreading the word about these wonderful businesses I was working with. Along with helping with branding, I wanted to create a network so people can see these wonderful companies also build a site where these companies can possibly work with each other, utilize other services and products and so on.
I wanted to create an atmosphere where these small businesses weren’t just small business to me. I treat everyone like family. WE have personal relationships with each other, we trust and believe in each other and that’s how I wanted to set myself apart from others in my field.
How’d you meet your business partner?
It all starts at home. With that being said, my wife Toya Woodard has been my biggest fan and supporter. She was definitely one of my inspirations in starting The Tresoul Network seeing she was dealing with anxiety during the pandemic. It was the push I needed to help her as well as others to pursue the return to normalcy but in a better state and frame of mind. She not just the cofounder but she’s also one of my biggest clients.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
There was a time when I really had to re-evaluate the way I coordinated my projects. Don’t get me wrong, my clientele was pleased with the business I provided. The problem was I focused so much on my clients, that I wasn’t getting my own name out there. I wasn’t spreading the word about the network. It took for someone to ask me what do I do? I had nothing to show them, no advertising, no social media or anything. I had to learn that it was ok to be a little bit selfish at times and treat myself as if I am a client. Thats when a light bulb came on in my head. I can better serve my clients if learning how to help them and their needs by fixing my own brand and adhering to those needs. By putting myself in their shoes I was able to be more receptive to their needs and the creative needs of my own.
