Travon amor, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business
One day, I had went to an open gym and there was a group of kids playing basketball. They asked me and a few other adults to play a game of 4 vs 4. Afterwards they asked for my instagram and ended up sending me a instagram message separately asking for me to train them for their basketball season coming up. Long story short, once I started training them my friend torrey called me and told me I was training his little couisins. That made me realize this is a small world!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
How I got into my business wasn’t hard for me. As I was a 5th grader I started to gravitate towards basketball. I was playing football at the time but one day I came home and my brother and his dad asked me to play basketball with them, a game of 21. I joined and every time I’d get the ball, I would travel or double dribble. So my brothers dad showed me how to play basketball and kept helping me with the game. Then I just carried on from there. Playing for middle school then highschool. And now here I am rediscovering my love for the game of basketball!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
What was most effective for me, was just posting little lessons or drills on my instagram page. It helps show that I actually am a student and a teacher of the game. Shows that I’m not just in it for the money, but to coach and train other aspiring pros about the simple and major things of the game of basketball.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I just use my instagram and put my email in my bio. So that they can either email me or send a direct message. It also helps create trust because I allow them to contact me on their own timing and they have references from my page to look back onto and see that everything I speak on is legit. Also get to know them and what they like to do in basketball and also make fun out of the training sessions.
