Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Travis Tidwell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Travis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents fully loved me and showed me the love Jesus Christ has for me and the world. Without the lessons of Christ, there is no way that I could have gotten as blessed as I’ve been and protected along the way. My parents taught me humility, hard work, faith, persistence, and dedication. These are some of the key ingredients I truly believe to be necessary to accomplish your purpose.

Travis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Travis Tidwell, I am 29 and a profession musician for the last ten years. I recently went solo as an artist of my own. I have played guitar and written with many artists, some which have some pretty impressive stats. I’ve been very fortunate. I used to play guitar for Big Smo and Ryan Upchurch, and played in the studio for many, many artists. Provided guitar, songwriting, bass in some cases, keys, backup vocals. When I was 14 I got my first guitar which inspired me to play upwards of 12 to 15 hours of guitar a day for 5 years or so. This helped me achieve a personal goal of getting a professional gig while I was still a teenager. While with Big Smo, we toured the world and got our own TV reality show on A&E for a couple of seasons and I have become very proud of those things. All that I ever worked on I was proud of but it is always extra special when something you did takes off big. I remember one of the WWE games opening up with one of the popular Big Smo songs I helped create and the game literally started off with my guitar riff, what a trip!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
When it comes to lyrics, I always try to say the truth and something relatable, with music, I do my best to pour my soul into it. The goal is to evoke emotion to my listeners when they hear it. Usually I make songs that evoke emotion in my own self.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Aside from be able to make a living doing it, the most rewarding thing is the messages or comments from someone who listened to your music and related, or it helped them while they were going through something. To inspire someone with the song the way the song was meant to, that’s the most rewarding thing to an artist I believe.
