I’m Travis Terrebonne, the CEO of Gengatorz Power Systems, a business I co-founded with my wife, Leslie. My journey into the power systems industry started in 2004 when I was working as a marine diesel mechanic. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and inspired by the legacy of my great-grandfather, I transitioned from a stable job to running my own business. Initially, I founded Industrial Diesel Service, which specialized in marine diesel mechanics. Over the years, we faced numerous challenges, including economic recessions and natural disasters, but these experiences honed our resilience and adaptability.
In 2021, after Hurricane Ida, Leslie and I saw an urgent need for reliable home standby generators in our community. This led to the birth of Gengatorz Power Systems. We provide top-quality generators from renowned brands like Kohler, Generac, Briggs and Stratton, and Cummins. Our services include sales, custom installations, and comprehensive maintenance plans, ensuring our clients have reliable power solutions tailored to their specific needs.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One story that truly illustrates our resilience occurred in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida in 2021. As the hurricane ravaged our community, it left many homes and businesses without power for weeks. Our own office was severely damaged, and our inventory was scattered across the parking lot. Despite these overwhelming challenges, Leslie and I decided to turn this crisis into an opportunity.
We quickly realized the dire need for reliable power solutions in the community. With cell phone service barely functional, I found myself climbing to the top of a local bridge just to get reception and coordinate our response. The overwhelming demand for generators prompted us to shift our focus rapidly. In just 45 days, we transformed our business into a home standby generator company. The chaos and uncertainty of the situation could have easily led us to give up, but instead, we doubled down on our commitment to serve our community.
This period was the birth of Gengatorz Power Systems. We embraced the opportunity to provide essential services, helping countless families and businesses regain stability. Our ability to pivot quickly, adapt to new market demands, and maintain our service quality under extreme pressure highlighted the resilience and dedication that defines our company. It was a testament to our resolve to not only survive but thrive in the face of adversity, turning challenges into catalysts for growth and innovation.
