Travis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
Covid has led to a few changes within my business model, primarily such as e-commerce and collaboration. Before covid it was an aspiration to have a traditional brick-and-mortar business however since we look forward to building relationships and collaborating with established brick-and-mortar. While most worry about loss of sales, we find rewarding while also working to improve our website.

Travis, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hailing from the Pacific Northwest by way of the Seattle area, I’m Travis Robinson, an ambitious, goal striving, hard working, family man. I entered the beard care industry seriously in 2020 after having a beard for 10+ years, and doing research on beard care after having previously started The Bearded Kings Brand as Bearded Kings Clothing. Since then the abundance growth has led to continuous improvement. We also believe that we’re set apart from other because our apparel is handmade as well as our beard care products: beard oil, beard wash, beard butter being water-based for minority, specifically black men as most are oil based.
Since being in business, we are currently most proud of keeping our prices low yet continuing to grow our customer base and improve our platform and quality of products. Though we understand our prices will soon compete with the market, we are glad to be ground-up built business.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Once upon a time, before the push of small business, black owned businesses, social media knowledge and funding, there existed saving funds the full-time job to invest in a dream and-or a job your own. The Bearded Kings Brand happened to be both for Travis. Travis has always been a thoughtful, goal driven man and that’s how he brought about the capital to start.
Although saving funds from his full-time job, he also saved every dollar earned from when he first started. While selling he also had an unique capability of earning tips and/or advice from customers who supported him and wanted to see him grow, As he listened, the growth in revenue came as did the customers who believed in his products and apparel.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
In a word where social media is such an influence and heavy impact, we knew we had to build and increase our social presence. In order to do so, we followed some of the top followed business accounts and listened to a few YouTube. While doing both we learned these five things and implemented them til this day:
1. Define your audience
2. Choose the right platform
3. Be consistent
4. Interact and Engage with your platform(s)
5. Collaborate
