We were lucky to catch up with Travis Moh recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Travis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

I always wanted to be a musician growing up. Playing guitar, songwriting, and composing music was always my jam. It was definitely a creative outlet for sure. I’ve always enjoyed writing in general.

I got the entrepreneur bug in college once I started teaching guitar lessons in a small, local college town in Idaho.

Over the course of 3 years of teaching, I had 23 students I was teaching weekly. It was a great job to have in college.

Later on, I came across advertising from my guitar professor actually. He had a side gig promoting his lesson books online and made a killing doing it.

Once COVID hit in 2020, my internship at Yamaha Music got cancelled, and I scrambled to find a job. I ended landing a Facebook Ads job for a e-learning company.

This got me in the whole world of online marketing. Plus, there was a lot of writing involved which was my strength.

Writing an ad is similar to writing a song, as the goal is to connect the reader to keep them engaged and get them to do something.

I worked for ad agency after ad agency after that internship, and right before I graduated college, I had enough demand to go part time into running my own agency. After 6 months, I was full-time in my ad agency.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My social media ads agency is called AdPush Media. We sell a service to write, launch, test, and scale other businesses’ ads.

We also coach people in-house if they don’t want to partner with an agency as a Done-With-You model.

Both models work very well to get the clients results, it just depends how much time and capital a company or individual has.

We primarily now only work with high ticket offers (anything above $2,000) who are already in the 7 and 8 figure per year range.

Our small team specializes in scaling these clients with lots of attention to detail, communication, and extensive research.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

The best part about starting an online business is that you can do a lot of it bootstrapped. What this means is that you don’t need any additional capital other than a laptop.

I’m not as risk-adverse as other entrepreneurs, and so I started this business as a side hustle part time while working part time to bring some cash in the door.

All the cash I made from my day job I’d use to invest in other coaches, courses, and education so that I can go full-time in my side hustle.

After about 6 months, I was full time and 3 years later I have a small team that is exceptional.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?

When I started using money to invest in coaches and education, I got a little carried away and obsessed. Sometimes to the point of I was investing to much to even see results from all the different coaches I had. I was also single at the time and had pretty dirt cheap rent living with a bunch of roommates in Utah.

The hardest time was when I spent my last $9,000 on a coach in my savings and only had $500 left to survive on that month. If I didn’t make any money, I would’ve had to really cut down or pick up another day job just to cover rent.

That was the closest I ever got to giving up.

But thankfully, I followed what my coaches said to get clients and worked very hard each day networking…and eventually I found clients. Not ideal clients, but those that paid me so I can continue pursuing my agency.
