Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Travis Davidson Jr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Travis, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
Yes I am quite happy. I love being an artist it’s is all I ever wanted to do. Even though sometimes I may seem ungrateful but it’s only because I am impatient and I want to do so much like go on a world tour, meet the people i always looked up to, and have the accessibility to Record as I please and get these pictures into motion. Sometimes I do think about getting a regularly job just to put some money in my pocket because I’m currently not making enough to live off of and that’s where I know this takes faith to keep going and that’s what I’m living off of right now but I’m very grateful I am living and I am living in good conditions and I always hear if you don’t give up you don’t lose. Giving up is the easy thing to do and nothing worth having is easy so it’s supposed to be this way. Who’s ever Reading this I pray you get the strength to keep going and the guidance and a renewal within your spirit because we all have these moments especially when you have something that’s worth having and if you are not experiencing this or never have, I pray you realize what you already have that’s worth having because that makes life worth living and that life is worth living! Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a rapper and motivational speaker.. I’ve always wanted to be a rapper since I was only 6 years old.
I was hurt in a car accident almost 3 years ago and it left me paralyzed. Before my accident I was living recklessly then God saved me, I know I’m blessed to still be here today, God has a job for me to do.I like to motivate people, I’ve been told that I can talk alot. I’m just a people person I love talking to people. I love talking about the truth,
I am proud of the happiness and joy I bring to people with my performance especially my song “Diddy”.
I’m asked to go perform at Discovery Green very often, my song “Diddy” gets everyone dancing and singing.
I’ve performed Diddy a few other places and everyone always ask who is that we Love that song, and I’m a entertainmer, I may be in this wheelchair but that doesn’t stop me! Everyone Loves it, I love it!, I dance so much you think I will come out the wheelchair, and that is what I would love to happen, people love to see me dancing in my wheelchair.
I love seeing people have a good time when I’m performing
I also have a song called Beautiful and I wrote it for kids with skin conditions, and it’s a song that all of us can relate to because of our disablities we are looked at different, but we are still Beautiful.
If you’re out there looking for some good live entertainment, I’m the one to call!!
I will be performing at the ReelMuic festival which showcases the talent of people who live with disabilities on February 23, 2023 at the White Oak Music Hall, it’s free to the public, come by and check us out.
I also will be having a music video release on February 25th, a lot of excitment going on, and I’m ready for even more!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Getting book for some shows can sometimes be challenging, they see the wheelchair and question “could I bring a good time to the customers/guest” so I don’t get the gig. I’ve been told my look, and ablity to perform may not be quiet what they’re looking for me, they sugget I go polish up on somethings and get back in touch with them
It had me a little insecure, until I started being requested to come out and perform, the gigs are coming to me, the word must have gotten around what I do to get their crowd going!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I was putting down deposits for recording sessions, video shooting, and not getting the services I was told I was going to receive, so now I want it in writing, and if I have to put down a deposit, I will pass, I’ll wait until I can get the money to pay in full for thier services.
