We were lucky to catch up with Travis Corley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Travis, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission has always been to help independent artists achieve their goals without financially crippling them.
I started out in the music industry hosting a podcast called “Agitate the Airwaves.” Our goal was to shine a light on underground, independent artists, their music and their stories alongside more established artists. during that time, we were being pressured by our network to charge local artists for interviews, but we stood strong and to this day have never charged for an interview, no matter what opportunity was attached to it.
Fast forward a few years, and I founded Transcendent Media Group with business partner and friend Matt Wolff. We decided from the very beginning that our business model would be different than most music marketing firms. We wanted to help artists grow and achieve their goals, while ensuring that we can work with any budget. Both of us being concert promoters and independent artists ourselves, we are aware of the financial struggles that can come along with being an independent artist. Making music can be expensive, and often times, artists don’t have an extra couple thousand dollars to spend on marketing & PR. Even further, they often don’t have the funds to be able to create a professional website and/or EPK. So, we created a business plan that would allow us to assist with these essential keys to their success while working within their budget, big or small.


As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Transcendent Media Group was founded founded in May of 2021 in St. Louis, MO by myself and Matt Wolff. Both of us being concert promoters and independent artists ourselves, we recognized that there was a lack of music industry infrastructure within the St. Louis market and many artists were struggling to figure out how to effectively market their music and brand.
We realized that together we could combine my 10+ years of marketing, PR, graphic design and web design experience with our combined experience of booking shows of all sizes to create a company like no other within our community that focuses more on the artists than lining our pockets. We simply just got tired of seeing our friends and colleges within the music scene being scammed by people claiming to be marketing professionals that would just buy likes and streams rather than help them build an actual fanbase that is engaged and supportive.

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
Matt Wolff and I first met when I was doing small shows in a local St. Louis bar. His group Double F. Gang was a group that I had booked a couple times and their energy while performing blew me away. Over time, our professional relationship eventually transformed into a friendship. In December of 2019, Matt and I teamed up for out first collaboration on a show, but as 2 separate entities.
In March of 2020, the pandemic hit and I watched as Matt continued to push himself to make the best of a not so great situation. I was impressed with his work ethic and dedication to the music scene. When I came up with the idea for TMG, I knew right away that he was someone that I would like to partner with.


What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Our best source of new clients has been from word of mouth and referrals. While our first few clients were sourced through digital ads, from there, referrals from clients and word of mouth has been the main contributor to our growth. We pride ourselves with working with our clients on a one on one basis. We take the time to get to know our clients and build relationships. Because of our genuine approach of wanting our clients to succeed, they have been more than happy to refer our services to their friends and colleagues.
Our success is 100 percent dependent on the success of our clients. Because of this, we will be expanding our services beyond our home base of St. Louis and into other strategic markets within the next 6 months.
