We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Travis & BreAuna Burkhalter Motivational Speakers & Mentors a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Travis & BreAuna Burkhalter, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Our Business/Ministry as a whole was a risk for us. The purpose of People of Hope is to encourage singles and those in relationships to grow healthy partnerships. With this goal, we knew we would have to be transparent in our relationship including the bumps along the way. It can be difficult to let others into your personal life but in the end, those we have mentored and those who have heard us speak whether in person, online, or by podcast have given us feedback that it helped them to know they aren’t alone in have test and trials in their relationships.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
People of Hope first and foremost our relationship. Our names are Travis and BreAuna Burkhalter. We have been together for 4 years married for 2 years this August. We started People of Hope during our dating phase when we were trying to figure out how to work together to grow our relationship through support, communication, and love. We started doing Facebook live videos discussing different topics to help build our relationship with biblical emphasis and we started to get a lot of people that really enjoyed our weekly Facebook lives. We then started to add podcast episodes periodically for convenience for our listeners. Now we mentor young adults as well as coach young couples on how to work through their issues and decide what love is to them and how to continue growing their love each day.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We matched on the Bumble dating app in April 2018. We talked on and off for a few months, mostly because of BreAuna. Then in December 2018, I reached out to Travis and shortly after finally went on our first date and we have been together ever since.

For us, we do what we do first and foremost to help others. We’re still in the building phase of our business but we have so much we want to give to the world, not for fortune or fame but to help others feel the kind of love we are blessed to feel every day.
