We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Travis Arrington. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Travis below.
Hi Travis, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Chiropractic is a second career for me and I wanted to be the best Chiropractor that I could be. So while I was in school, I attended dozens of seminars on technique and analysis, x-rays imaging etc. During my search I came across an analysis and technique that dealt primarily with behavioral health and addictions. I was fascinated from my own experience with addiction and mental health challenges. I had to learn more. I attended a conference in Atlanta, GA with Dr. Jay Holder.
Dr. Holder not only conducted the research to develop the technique in response to the opioid crisis but helped establish alternate sentencing guidelines with Janet Reno and founded our national drug courts program. I remember sitting in that seminar and being amazed at the research and patient results, and the success rate with patients that he was sharing with us. Always curious and somewhat skeptical. I wanted to experience this chiropractic technique for myself and so I found a doctor near me and started under care. I noticed significant changes in my health and well-being more so than anything else I had tried. It was amazing!

Travis, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
If you think of chiropractors and think of neck pain and back pain, then you’re right. Chiropractic adjustments help the body heal in a natural way, and most people’s experience with a chiropractor has been to help with neck or back pain However, as a doctor of the nervous system, there are dozens of conditions that I can help with BECAUSE I help the nervous system function optimally. This is because the nerve system is the master system of the body that coordinates and controls every function in the body.
At White Bison Well-being, we are experts in locating, analyzing and restoring communication between the brain in the body. This communication problem is often called subluxation. What happens is a bone moves out of place ever so slightly and puts pressure on a nerve and thereby affects the function that nerve signal provides to organs, tissues and cells. Pressure on nerves and tension in the spine have been clinically shown to be substantial contributors to conditions like ADD ADHD, addictions, anxiety, depression, and behavioral, learning, and socialization challenges.
To put it more simply, physical, chemical, and emotional stress that is too much for our body to adapt to at that moment causes a blown fuse in the communication between the brain and body.
What makes our office unique is the physical body approach to mental health, as well as the cognitive awareness approach to mental health. We are the only office in Utah that offers in-house mental health services as well as neurological chiropractic care. Approaching mental health as a whole body experience, and addressing the underlying physiological cause is our specialty.
Often people that have experienced trauma are not able to rationalize their way out of that experience because physiologically their body is stuck in a stress response from that experience. With chiropractic care, EMDR, trauma informed yoga and family therapy. We can get to the root cause of the challenges you’re facing and allow your body to heal!

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
We are still learning every day, but the biggest tool that has helped us reach people is communication. What we do is different and we are still learning how to get it across in a way that connects simply – but being willing to get our message out there has been what’s made the difference. We have hosted live workshops at our office to teach people about our offerings, we post social content and videos to educate and explain our services and we network with local professionals and educate them on opportunities for collaboration and referrals. I think in any business, you have to be willing to Networks and communicate what you do to build awareness of your brand and business so that you can serve people.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
This is a funny question because when I started college, my intent was to become a chiropractor, and I took a detour for nearly 10 years and worked in tech sales. When I made the decision to go back to school and become a chiropractor I knew for sure that it was what I wanted to do. The specialty that I’ve chosen within chiropractic of behavioral health and to have the opportunity to work with my wife, who is a Marriage and Family Therapist has been an incredibly rewarding experience and continues to be so as we meet and help more and more people.
