We recently connected with Traveon Westbrook and have shared our conversation below.

Traveon , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

I came up with the name of my company from my own name which was passed down from my grandfather . There’s so much greatness in the name Alexander and I wear it proudly . I juggle so many hats I’m a man in ministry and a man in business who is preparing to expand my brand & company .

Traveon , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am a 29 year old African American male who decided back in 2017 that I wanted to launch an accessory line that could be for males & females . I put in a lot of work what people don’t know before I got a team , I was behind everything . Website all the way down to packaging and production .I am proud that my brand has really made an impact. When I travel it’s refreshing to see people still rocking the brand and supporting me . I’ve been real quiet but we have decided to expand and will be releasing a fragrance as well as sunglasses collection in March 2024 for the anniversary of Alexander West . I’ve been nervous because I am having a launch party and it’s going to be ground breaking . We have been really working very hard to make sure it’s a night to remember. A lot of people don’t know I wear multiple hats but the two that are dear to me is my business and my ministry. I hosted my first Prayer gathering on May 21st . Prayer has been the main key to my life and things I have accomplished . Next year I am hosting it in Atlanta to gather all young believers who believe in the power of prayer . We could definitely use it in these times and with all the craziness . I am after people that don’t believe as well . I understand my assignment on the earth and it’s bigger than any system or religion and so is God . I am proud to say that If you have been waiting and watching it’s about to be better than ever ..

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

One of the lessons I had to unlearn is that just because a business sells the same thing does not mean that you feel threatened and stop yours . When I first started my business there were hardly any accessories really for men . Now, there are so many accessories and things for men . I had to understand Walmart & Target sell the same products but everyone has a preference .Also each business markets there product in their own effective way . I had to realize that the world is filled with so many people we have to stop thinking small and think bigger . I am my worst critic, I am very hard on myself . I am an over thinker & perfectionist and sometimes the most simplest things work and are very effective .

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I would like to share my covid experience . During covid I was laid off my job and really had got comfortable with a 9-5. Don’t ever allow a 9-5 to stop you from dreaming spend just as much time on your business . I was like I didn’t know how I would survive but I took that time to focus on my business . I launched a collection and every day I made more money from my business than I would have working a regular job . It was the most successful collection . I did not have any models I had to model but it was most money I’ve made from any collection . I am really grateful to God.
