We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Trap Travi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Trap below.
Hi Trap , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My most meaningful project in my opinion would have to be my most recent one titled “TRAPMOSPHERE” . I’ve been promoting it to my fans & supporters for some time now, and I finally released it near the end of 2022. I say it’s my most meaningful project because I feel like my sound has come such a long way, from when I first started making music. The type of vibes you’ll experience listening to “TRAPMOSPHERE” are on a whole different level, and I really feel like I got a chance to show my true sound. “30030to90210” is a strong runner up because it explains my transition of moving from Decatur to Los Angeles , but “TRAPMOSPHERE” really reflects the amount of fun I’m having on the journey!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Trap Travi is a 24 yr old Recording Artist who makes art through music with creative high quality vocals. My range and versatility are so far spread that I know for sure I have a song for everyone. It’s hard to put a genre to my sound to be honest I gotta give credits to the producers because I just ride the beat. The love for the art of music is what keeps me going. Knowing that I can go back and listen to my old songs and hear how much I’ve improved and know that those songs will live forever is priceless to me. My mission is to create as many vibes as I can so that any person in the world could relate or just find peace while listening to my music. I started making music officially about a year or so after high school. I’ve always had 3 common nick names : Trap , Travi or Trav so naturally my artist name came easy “Trap Travi” I later went on to create albums and exclusive merch/gear: “Trap Storm”, “Trap Skywalker” and “TRAPMOSPHERE” I sold over 2,000 shirts and headbands overall and have started working on the next line of merch to drop soon. Recently a couple of my close friends and I came together and created a brand called “ILLICIT COLLECTIVE” a lot of big things in the works; Merch, Music videos etc. The journey is honestly the best part about my life. Add a new crazy vibe creating artist to your playlist today and enter the TRAPMOSPHERE- Trap Travi
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to unlock my full potential as an artist and spread the narrative that’s it’s ok to just be you. Your are who you are and once you accept that then literally there’s no limit to what you can accomplish. There’s a lot of depression and sad stuff happening all over the world , all the time. I just want to create a place where people can go in to escape there thoughts and find peace. I want people to be happy to listening to my music I make music for people who want to be happy. Even if it’s a sad type of song, be sad in that moment but be happy because you’re alive to enjoy this moment and be motivated by those sad feelings and turn it into art. Everything is art , so that’s really my goal I want everyone to make their own form of art in their own way and if I can be that motivation then I’m doing something right.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
For a long time I just posted my music as frequent as possible and over time I realized that I needed to actually engage with my fans and supporters and give them more then just the music. So I started creating videos and shooting fire visuals so the fans could have something appealing to watch while vibing out to the song. Merchandise is a good way for your true fans & supporters to invest and support your brand. I’m blessed to have a small but loyal fan base , I’ve sold out on every merch campaign That I’ve run up to this point. In 2021 the popular producer Zaytoven listened to my album in the studio and Co signed me on Instagram. That really gave my social media presence a boost. I started getting random DM’s from people just telling me my music was hard, or that they heard my song somewhere and rocked with it. Definitely feels good to get recognition for the amount of work you have to put in to be a successful artist.
