We were lucky to catch up with Trap Drumma recently and have shared our conversation below.
Trap, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Tbh ive been musically inclined ever since i can remember. But my path to becoming a music producer started way before i got to the computer and started using daws. I started out in the school band and as a musician in a traveling band at the time. Idk what could have sped up my process tbh lol because to me and others around me it seemed like i was pickin up different instruments and learning music theory faster than most. Learning music theory probably helped me the most because knowing the rules of music and keys helped me produce alot faster and actually have good sonics. The one obstacle that stood in my way early on was life itself tbh westher it was school, not being old enough to drive myself to rehersals or studios so i would have to wait or miss the oppurtunity or the big one lack of funds.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the music real young playing in church, school band and traveling bands. From these experiences that led me to find out abt the music industry i started learning abt the business side and knew this is wat i wanted to do. As a music producer i do make and sell beats but its much more than that i try to help bring out a feeling in a artist that consumers would feel while listening to a song by the artist thats how good timeless music is made! I also manage one artist right now as well so not only can you get some good beats from me but i also help build and shape careers especially in the early stages. One thing that im most proud of is actually making and still in the process of making myself a brand its not easy doin it independently but seeing the rewards are worth it im also in the process of building trapdrummamanagement so im proud of that as well.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes my family and my own drive to be great. Music has been in my family for years but nobody has ever taken it as far as i have and plan on takin it. I almsot feel like God keeps passing it down because its some he wanted us to do with it and i think im that one! Ive always had this drive i was supposed to do something outside the norm everywhere ive gone when it comes to music im always wit the most talented cuz i belong so i just took that at a young age and said ima do wat i have to cuz its obvious im supposed to be great at this and change lives
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing the smiles on ppls faces when they hear my music but dnt know i produced it or seeing a whole club go up to something that was an idea in my head nothing like that feeling
