We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tranyce Parmer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tranyce below.
Alright, Tranyce thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
My company name is Let’s Talk Gardening. I decided to name it this because at the time of me starting it, many people started asking me about my success rate in growing my own food. I started documenting my journey and connecting with other gardeners in my area to show how my audience could start growing within their current space. I found that I was talking more and more about gardening so it stuck.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an East Nashville native and gardener. I started in the gardening field due to a much needed life and dietary change within my family. What started as a means to survival has become a true passion and commitment to living a very holistic life and demystifying the belief that you need land to get started in growing your own food. I started researching and reading everything about growing food and plant cycles, botany and horticulture practices. I started with container gardening due to limited space and have now grown to an educator and entrepreneur. I offer several services such as consultations, gardening classes for beginners and on special topics and garden maintenance visits. I want people to know that they can grow where they currently are and trial and error is the best teacher. Having a green thumb means returning to growing even when you lose leaves or entire plants. Let’s Talk Gardening is here to empower and inspire anyone with an interest in growing to get started. Through my consultations, courses and maintenance services, I am able to assist my clients in creating the garden of their dreams and keeping it alive.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience by being authentic in my posts and connecting with others within the community. I attended in person events where other gardeners and beginners were present. Through word of mouth and collaborations, I was able to gain a following on Instagram. Plus, I continued to think outside of the box in my content creation and came up with a series that would allow me to reach others in different markets.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Honestly, the pandemic was a blessing in that I was able to spend more time gardening and fully servicing my clients. Before the pandemic, I was working a full time job as an enumerator and photography/videographer for my media blog in Nashville, TN. I would spend my days dividing my time between my FT job and shooting at different events in the city and writing blog post. This involved a bunch of scheduling, writing, editing and uploading while still gardening and making ends me. Once the entertainment industry was hit by the pandemic shut downs, I wasn’t able to shoot at the major events. I started gardening full time and even played around with growing plants to sale. I started crafting virtual courses. As more and more clients filed in, I was able to hit some key milestones that convinced me to make it an LLC. So far so good.
