We were lucky to catch up with Trang Gardner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Trang thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Some of the most interesting parts of our journey emerge from areas where we believe something that most people in our industry do not – do you have something like that?
I am a user-generated content (UGC) creator who believes creators should be fairly compensated for promoting products. While some brands think offering a free product or $50 for a video is enough, creating quality content involves much more than just talking in front of a camera. It requires a well-written script, a strong hook within the first 3 seconds to grab attention, and a thoughtful execution plan. Producing an engaging and effective video takes time and effort, and creators deserve to be paid accordingly

Trang, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, my name is Trang, and I am a stay-at-home mom to 2 toddlers. I’ve always loved social media since Instagram came around, but I didn’t have much time while working a full-time job and doing community service for pageant events. I recently returned to social media 2 years ago after having my second baby, hoping to make some extra income. I soon realized that I didn’t have enough followers to become an influencer, so I shifted my career to UGC, as I have a marketing background from my previous job.
As a UGC creator, I produce high-quality videos for brands, helping to spread awareness, connect with customers. And generate more sales. I take pride in my work and always ensure that my clients are satisfied. I moved to the States from Vietnam when I was 18, so I am fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and Vietnamese. One day, I’d love to create a video in Vietnamese.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I joined mom groups on social media where we support each other by following and engaging with each other’s content. I’m sure there are many other groups people can join to help with engagement and growth. One thing I’ve learned is to consistently share quality posts and videos. Don’t just post for the sake of it, always keep your audience in mind. For example, I want to attract brands, so I wouldn’t share what my kids are having for dinner tonight.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative for me is to see my videos doing very well. Also, I love having positive feedback from my clients.
