We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful TraMel . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with TraMel below.
TraMel , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
In the beginning, I believed that those closest to me like family and friends would automatically be on board. In the beginning I believed that someone would recognize my “greatness” and want to sign me or basically rescue me by guiding* through the process and be encouraging when I wanted to quit.
None of these things were true. Some family and friends have supported me from day one, but ultimately I had to prove my worth to everyone. The truth was no one was coming to rescue me and there is no short-cut to greatness. I had to put in the work (voice lessons, piano lessons, studio equipment, studying the business, hiring my brand manager, rewriting lyrics until I got the intended message just right, paying an engineer to tutor me on operating my recording software, networking, losing sleep, humbling myself from directing a large Physical Therapy clinic to driving some known artists around and sitting in the corner unnoticed for countless hours all just to be around music in any aspect that was available.) I’ve been scammed out of money with people calling me bro and fam using the infamous line, “But for you, I’ll do it for…” It’s been a crazy yet worthwhile ride, I’ve learned. I’ve persevered. I’ve overcome a lot.
TraMel , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Antonio “TraMel” Davis was born and raised in Georgia and is a native of Conyers, Georgia.
Antonio is a contract Physical Therapist specializing in Outpatient Orthopedics, Neck Pain, Spine, and Fitness Training.
In the world of music, “TraMel” is
the moniker behind recording artist Antonio “TraMel” Davis, which is his
middle name. A true southern gentleman with a flair
for sexy, sultry, romance. For the past few years, his music taste has
carried a warmth of modern soul and alluring
rhythm and blues.
“Say Yes”, is his first single with a strong listener range on Spotify. In order
to outdo himself he followed up with “Drippin”, produced by WekuDidThat,
his music video reached over 275,000 total views on YouTube and counting! His
music has been featured in films like “Fated Reunion” and “Keeping Secrets” and will continue to
captivate audiences with a vibe that is sure to make any dry season in a
woman’s personal “Saharah Desert” become monsoon season.
His latest single “Nick Cannon (No Condom)” is the follow-up to Drippin (my previous release). It describes the pivotal point in a relationship where he has made the choice that she is the only one for him and she has made the same choice so they agree to forego the synthetic barrier and have sex in its most natural form. No inhibitions. No Condom. Total pleasure.
“Sing to me TraMel!”
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
One of the biggest misconceptions about being a creative is that the money will come fast or easily. Neither one of those could be further from the truth. It’s not like a job with a regular check. The thing that keeps a creative going when no money is involved is no different than that of a chef who wants to see people enjoy something they created out of love. Not only do we want you to enjoy what we do, but we also want you to love it so much that you automatically share it with others with an unfounded excitement.
The highest compliments that I’ve been paid (outside of fans giving me financial support) up to this point is when the fans of my music or just of me in general, tell me that they shared my work or send me screenshots of my music in their playlist or downloaded into their preferred streaming platforms without my even having to ask. Those supporters really get it! We need that.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is simple….show my children through my actions what can be accomplished through determination and focus. Many adults tell kids that they can be anything they want to be in life, while these adult lives are far from what they’re telling the youth. It’s a contradiction that these kids aren’t blind to. I want to live the lessons that I’m teaching my daughter and son. I’m pursuing my vision and denial of that just isn’t an option.
