Traliece, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Yes, this past year I have started earning full-time income from my work. For me, it was thrust upon me when I lost my job back in January 2025. I kept applying for different jobs and was not able to get any call backs. So I made the bold decision to turn my side hustle into my full-time business. I hired coaches and mentors. I started networking. I also increased my prayer life and my personal development through reading books, going to seminars, and taking online courses. Despite the difficulty, I was able to start earning a living with my music while being able to provide for myself.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey as a musician began early, as a violinist while growing up New Orleans, LA. I was a member of the esteemed New Orleans Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Red River Valley Symphony Orchestra in Virginia and the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra in Texas. I also was a part of various choirs throughout New Orleans as well as in Texas.
I currently perform at private events and worship events as well as collaborate with indie artists, working as a recording musician as both a violinist and a singer.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I never thought this would be the kind of business I would be doing full time as a private events musician. Life is full of surprises and to be honest I disqualified myself a long time ago. However, I proved myself wrong and I am doing well in my first year as a full time musician.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Truthfully because I am pressed for time, I run ads on social media and I am a member on some paid lead websites such as GigSalad, The Bash, EntertainersWorldwide, and Zola. I am also networking with others in the industry but, building relationships is a process.
