We recently connected with Trajan (Tra) Moreland and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Trajan (Tra) , thanks for joining us today. One deeply underappreciated facet of entrepreneurship is the kind of crazy stuff we have to deal with as business owners. Sometimes it’s crazy positive sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?

The craziest thing that has happened since I’ve started my brand is receiving love from JT from the citygirls. It was so unexpected! I was promoting my release of my Summer lot on Twitter, & before I could finish promoting I saw she tagged me in something. But knowing me & how active I am under her post I just kind of brushed it off. But something was telling me to check & see what she mentioned me in. I pressed the tweet & saw she reposted my tweet & said “shop now”.. but before I could let out my scream I saw a Shopify notification that said 1 new order. So instantly I jumped up & checked it before reacting to her tweet.. & it was her who bought something… I couldn’t believe my eyes.. my chest instantly got tight & my hands started tingling.
She was literally the first person to buy something from the collection.
Anybody who knows me well enough know I’ve been – what my friends would call a “groupie” for the citygirls since 2018! Nobody screamed #FreeJt harder then me, nobody argues with random trolls online harder then me. Nobody Hypes them up harder then me. I just genuinely love & admire them! just look at them how could you not ?
You would think that’s all she did but literally, we’ve talked & she’s told me how much she appreciate my support for her & she just had to support me.. since that original post she has also posted my brand again.. like twice.. TWICE…
I don’t think she will ever know how much that meant to me. Like I’m sure anybody with a business know how hard it gets sometimes. And with me being so passionate about clothes & designing, It really scares me sometimes because If I don’t have this, what do I have.

Trajan (Tra) , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Gutta Strands is a 2 year old, Ready-To-Wear brand that strives to provide the dopest unisex pieces in the world. We are very big on colors & newly simplistic looks. We are a urban street wear brand with a luxurious touch. We definitely are size inclusive from 3Xl – Xs! We’re most known for our colorful Unisex shorts and/or our woman’s 2 piece sets. We also carry items like hats, swim wear, sweatsuits, graphic tees &, lounge wear. What sets us apart from others is every item dropped belongs to a specific collection.. Our collection themes & pieces are so retro & diverse you’ll never get bored!

We are also currently working on 6 new mini & full length collections that we plan on releasing the end of this year & beginning of 2023!
Ample/voluminous meaning enough or more than enough; plentiful. It’s our simplistic take on oversize baggy pieces! You can see some of the collection below!

Have you ever had to pivot?

Being 20 years old, in college year round & working a full time job when your trying to bet on yourself & new business, it’s always a moment where you have to recenter. Things become overwhelming or your mind is trying to sike you out daily. I can’t remember a time where I’ve been at Ease or not worried about what I needed to do next. My best advice is to always have those moments where you can stop & think or create! Do something that makes your mind & soul feel good! Also, Have those people you can call & vent too!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

The biggest lesson I had to unlearn… Well more so a belief I had, was thinking just because someone called me friend or was family, that they were automatically going to support me or believe in me. Nothing hurt worst then seeing people I thought loved me & supported me skip over my dreams like it was nothing. But that’s the reality of this day & age. A lot of people don’t support you until they see others supporting you.
You have to take it as a grain of salt & keep moving forward. Never let any nay sayers or people destroy your dreams & hopes.
Another big thing I had to unlearn was listening to people opinions about my art & letting it get in my head. Never look for validation when it comes to how you move with you business. Do what you feel is 100% right & you.
