We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tracy Young. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tracy below.
Alright, Tracy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The Plairent is a play on the words “plant parent” and was established years before I started the company.
As a plant lover I would talk to my house plants and family members would ask me if they would talk back.
I liken myself to the plant whisperer.
Later after being diagnosed with the disease Multiple Sclerosis, I found comfort in immersing myself in plant life through caring and learning the benefits of growing and eating garden plants which produce fruits and vegetables.
Because I was considered disabled at a point, the natural transition was to transform my affinity for plant life into a business!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My Name is Tracy and I am the Creator and Owner of The Plairent Company which offers plant care services, encouragement and
community to plant lovers through plant consultation via Zoom calls, a monthly newsletter and, presentations on Instagram, Facebook and, other visual platforms.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Initially, the plan was to provide “house calls” locally to diagnose plant problems/care, plant flowers and do yard design. Personal interaction is what makes the brand of the company unique, but with the challenges of multiple sclerosis, I realized how much was required, and made the shift in the business model to conduct plant and educational services to online platforms, which has made the entire operation more manageable.
Building and Consistency is the key to unlock the door to the world of any business.
My target audience is the novice plant owner and those who are looking to thrive in their plant journey!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for new clients is by word of mouth and sharing content on social media platforms!
