We recently connected with Tracy Thomas and have shared our conversation below.
Tracy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
I come from a service background. Right out of college I jumped into the Oil & Gas Industry. I stayed at the same company for 10+ years before moving into the Independent/ Assisted Living Industry for another 10 years. Both required constant interaction with people. From the time I arrived at work each day until the end of each day I was busy helping others. The most important thing I learned from both industries was to listen. Listen to what others have to say! I find that folks like to be heard. They like to vent. They just like to have someone with an open mind to hear them out. And when you stop to listen, you can learn so much about an individual! My motto has always been “you can’t learn enough”! Knowledge is power. And I love to soak up knowledge! That has especially helped me in the Real Estate Industry. Listen to what people want and need to make them happy! And in return that makes me happy!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have always had the desire to build things. Put things together. I’m an outdoorsy kind of girl. I grew up in a small town in Texas. Practically raised on a horse. I traveled the horse show circuit starting at 1.5 years old! So I’m not afraid to put my boots on and get busy! About 12 years ago I got busy flipping houses. I started with several lake houses. Fixed them up and then sold them for a profit. Each time making enough profit to upgrade the next property to bigger and better. I even built a Commercial Business from the ground up zoning and permitting and all! Once I sold that property I decided it was time to get licensed as a Real Estate Agent. I love finding things that are in need of help and turning them into something beautiful! So in 2020 when Covid hit I went back to school. I completed all the work and took my state exam which I passed immediately. Since then I have continued to listen and learn. I now have a whole slew of designations added to my list of experience. I’ve helped many clients along the way to start new memories and find their happy place! I know for certain that all my experiences have made me a better person and Real Estate Professional. My past has helped me and my clients navigate each challenge we come up against and help me continue to grow. I now take on Residential Sales, Commercial Sales, Unimproved Property, Farm & Ranch and New Home Sales. I also have experience dealing with Family Trusts when purchasing and selling. The skies the limit in my eyes as I will continue to dive deeper into my profession. When a client works with me they will immediately feel at ease as I am a people person and thrive to make lasting relationships that last beyond the transaction!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I have always cemented into my brain that first impression is the lasting one! So give it your all the first go around so that you 1. don’t have to redo it and 2. you can be proud of your accomplishment! I usually hit the ground running. And as I’ve aged I’ve noticed that I’ve gotten pretty OCD about doing things. Which makes me pretty organized! So I try to make each transaction as painless as necessary and take on all the stress leaving my clients with a good experience. And in return I get Referrals! That I would say make up most of my clientele! Referrals are your best friend. And they let me know I’m doing a great job which is a reward in itself!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I like to go the extra mile for my clients. This usually requires boots and a sharp eye for rattlesnakes in my area. Residing in the Texas Hill Country comes with advantages and disadvantages. I currently am working on a Farm & Ranch deal for 30 acres in the Canyon Lake, Texas area. It’s already getting warm here in Texas so whenever you have to go walk a property you usually will get your workout in for the day! I recently needed to meet and find the surveyor who decided to show up 2 weeks early on this said 30 acres. Now mind you it’s scarcely cleared and most of the property is on a mountain that overlooks the Guadalupe and surrounding area of Canyon Lake. To say the cedars and oaks are thick is an understatement! But I’m a country girl so I set out on foot. I literally climbed and tracked across the whole 30 acres. Never finding the surveyor who I found out later had moved next door to another tract first! But I have to say once I climbed to the top of that mountain, the views were incredible! It was worth my sweat drenched clothes and was much sweeter on the way down! I’m not afraid to tackle the hardest task. And I usually view it as a challenge! Determined is a great word to describe me!
