We recently connected with Tracy Slepcevic and have shared our conversation below.
Tracy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
My journey as an author writing Warrior Mom: A Mother’s Journey In Healing Her Son with Autism was one of the most heartwarming stories you will ever read. Over 17 years ago, my son Noah regressed into a state of autism losing all speech, some motor skills, and cognitive function. It took me over two years to figure out what was going on with my child as his pediatrician kept telling me it was all normal. Once I got the answers I was looking for it set me on a path to healing my son. For years, I addressed Noah’s underlying conditions so he could get to a functioning state. I battled with schools, doctors, and anyone else who stood in the way of my son’s progress. During this time I became a fighter, an advocate, and a warrior as I changed my son’s prognosis. Doctors continued to tell me my son would never function or live a normal life but we defeated the odds and Noah is now 18 years old and fully functioning. He drives, has friends, takes care of himself, and goes to college. I never imagined that I would write a book and it would become a bestseller overnight. Since my book came out, I have assisted thousands of parents around the world in healing their children with biomedical intervention. My #1 job in life was to be a mother and it has been the most rewarding job I have ever had. My son Noah gave me strength when I thought all hope was lost, and he has become my biggest teacher. I am truly grateful for my journey and that God gave Noah to me so I could change the world.

Tracy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Bestselling Author, Certified Integrative Health Practitioner, Speaker, Air Force Veteran, and the founder of Pur Health, LLC. I am educated in the field of Complementary and Alternative Medicine and have dedicated over 15 years to researching various treatments and therapies for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Over the years, I have worked with various doctors, scientists, advocates, and researchers: and have made it my mission to educate families on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
After my son Noah had a severe regression after meeting all his milestones, I spent years trying to figure out what was wrong with my little boy. Once given a diagnosis, doctors said Noah would never lead a normal functioning life, but I knew this was not his fate. After learning from my naturopathic doctor that there was hope for healing children with autism, I decided to take charge of my son’s case and stop deferring to professionals who brushed off my questions, ignored my concerns, and insisted I accept a bleak future for Noah.
Refusing to give up, I read dozens of books, attended autism conferences, watched educational videos, and spent countless hours researching for answers on how to heal my child. I was determined to turn my son around from what doctor’s called an “incurable diagnosis” so that Noah could live the best life possible. With the assistance of biomedical intervention, Noah made great progress over the years and is a fully functional kid today.
Autism has reached epidemic levels in the United States. According to estimated data taken in 2018 from the CDC’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network, 1 in 36 (2.8%) children in the U.S. are diagnosed with autism, an increase of 317% since the year 2000. Millions of parents and loved ones have been told there is little they can do to heal their autistic child – but I knew otherwise. Warrior Mom is an inspiring story of hope and an indispensable guidebook for any parent desperate to hear the truth that autism is not an incurable disorder and that many underlying conditions associated with autism are treatable.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn everything I was taught in college regarding medicine and what actually heals the body. I learned that there is an underlying condition to every illness, disease, or disorder and it all begins in the gut. After my son was diagnosed with autism, I learned a different approach to healing by looking for the underlying condition. Anyone can have a genetic predisposition for anything but it takes some sort of environmental toxin to trigger that condition. Once you eliminate the toxins and treat the underlying condition, the body begins to heal itself. Once you heal the body, you heal the brain as well.
