We caught up with the brilliant and insightful TRACY Noe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi TRACY, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I Chose the name Motor City Legacy Horror Convention and Film Festival because of Legacy. A Legacy is something I want to leave. Horror in general has been a big part of my whole life. Films, books, music, makeup has always been apart of my life from as early as I can remember growing up. It wasn’t as accepted when I grew up as it is now. I was looked down on by teachers, my family, and kids my age. It made me feel like I wasn’t respected for what meant the world to me. But I grew up I went to make-up school. Worked on films that played at Cannes Film Festival, I’ve done Make-Up on some of the actors from horror flims I loved watching growing up. I’ve run the make-up department of some of the biggest and best haunted attractions in Michigan. Saving everything I could through all of it. To start my own Horror Convention and Film Festival. To share the love for all things horror with people that grew up just like me. Those who acceped being treated as odd growing up because they loved all things Horror. What I hope for my Legacy is a place were fans can go and celebrate it with like minded people. A place where everyone is welcome from the kid that grew up to be a lawyer, the kid that grew up to become a makeup artist and everyone in-between.

TRACY, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have loved horror my whole life. I have always wanted to create something special. As a Special Effects Make-Up artist I was given a chance to create moment in film that will last forever. To create monsters at some of Michigan’s best haunted attractions. But I wanted to create something more. With the money I saved from those projects and haunted attractions I decided to create my version of the best Horror Convention and Film Festival I could. I bring in celebrity actors to sign autographs and take picture with fans, Vendors that sell the weird and one of a kind items you wouldn’t see anywhere else, And a Film Festival that screens movies people might not have the chance to see and enjoy. Everything I have done in my professional life has lead to the building of my business. Contacts I’ve made over many years of being a Make-Up artist from the agents I’ve met through films projects that help me book there clients, to the filmmaker’s I have worked for over the years that put there new project’s in my film festival, the haunted attraction Make-up departments I’ve run that has introduced me to the most creative vendors that set up at my show. What I want people to know more then anything is that dreams do come true if your willing to work hard for it and that no matter how hard things can get being up front and honest shows what type of business person you are. And it’s something to be proud of.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
As a Special Effects Mape-Up artist. I worked for over ten years doing films, music videos, photo shoots, and haunted attractions. Through out those ten years I saved as much as I could from each job. As hard as it was not to spend it. And kept saving it until I had enough to start.

Any advice for managing a team?
That respect is one of the most important things. To treat everyone how you would want to be treated.
