Alright, Tracy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
The craziest story that happened early in my business. After I had purchased my mobile bar I was given instructions related to timeline of arrival and what would be required of me. The information that was shared kind of went over my head with excitement as I was proud I had accomplished the purchased and I had what I thought everything lined up. Well upon my surprise the delivery day arrived. I was given a call by the shipping representative that my FIONA had arrived and I needed to come pick up my shipment or they could deliver but I needed a bay door. It was 6am I was like ok. I then rolled over in bed told my spouse for the 1st time “mind you this wasn’t an overnight thing I had been in contact with my vendor for several months” – he said who is FIONA? (lol) I was like the mobile bar cart remember we talked about this its here that was the shipping rep. He had a business meeting for his 2nd business location. He said WHAT you ordered the mobile cart I said yes he said a lot but all I heard was blah blah – again I’m super excited in my mind I was hearing over everything “OMG YOU DID IT” then I said no worries I got this LORD knows I didn’t have no plans. I really think I thought I was getting small a toy that could fit in my car backseat. FIONA weighs 1764 lbs 6ft tall I said yea but it was really a “NO”. I told myself at that moment you cant turn back now. Long story I walked into a business not far from my home. The owner was sitting at his desk on a business call he looked up at me and said wait one moment. Im sure I looked like a crazy person to Mr Richard. I said please sir I need some help. I showed him FIONA I said please can you help me receive my delivery I need a bay door. I gave him my story i made sure he was comfortable with as a person we talked about a lot of stuff I wanted him to trust me I wanted him to know I was not some crazy lady afterwards he side sure thing handed me his business card. I left I got in my car and cried & prayed. I only had a short window and time was ticking I called the shipping representative told them I had secured a bay door but I still needed someone to bring FIONA to my door step. I googled tow truck with rollback happened to get the owner of a local tow company told him about FIONA he said send me a picture and he said ok I’m going to come help you. He came and FIONA was in a crate we sort of unboxed her because she had to sit in my driveway and I didnt want anyone to know what the crate was and the rest is history Magical Moments BAR was born.
Tracy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My Name is Tracy DeSeignora. I have worked in Corporate America for many years. I was looking for an opportunity to start a business that would be sustainable through any time. As I researched all I saw was images of people drinking and enjoying themselves if it was sad event or a celebration there was drinks being poured. So I decided a mobile bar business back in 2019 was going to be my go to for the next chapters of my life. Bartending was always something I loved to do when hosting our parties for family and friends. I stated researching ways to provide a eco friendly mobile bar that I could run that would be able to run off electric instead of gas and provide beer and wine from taps without the use of bottles. I saw the horse trailer but I was scared to take on such big a task. I just knew I would never get it completed and run out of funding. When I saw the vintage Piaggio Ape mobile bar cart option I fell in love and knew that was the route I was going to take. FIONA is self self-sufficient able to dispense any beverage ice cold (Prosecco, lemonade, ice tea, cold brew, margaritas, etc) using her very own taps and cooler refrigeration compartment she’s convenient. We can offer the option to showcase a customizable branding event from her display panels. During my research many people were looking for better options that provide elab0rated mobile bar options. I remember seeing a bride who’s wedding was rained out and she was so hurt that the mobile bar she had hired didn’t have any option to party both inside and outside after the rain. I ran across corporate event sponsors, apartment social committees and home open house agents asking for mobile bars that could accommodate events with branding of their products and I wanted to be able to be in any room and not be rejected because I couldn’t provide specialty options. We also selected the black and white colors for FIONA as they represent elegancy sophistication and be easily matched to any color scheme to avoid being rejected by a bride on her magical day. I looked into every aspect of this business I’ve never been a quitter in anything I will figure it out and I don’t really look at things with the I cant do that type of mindset. In my mind I can do all thing through Christ that strengthens me and that has always been the way I lived my life.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I have built my social media using the word of mouth. I by chance met a consultant that ended up giving me and 1 hour free worth of advice. He looked at my pages and said he liked that I constantly posted but the audience needs to see a person behind the business and challenged me to do 30-31 days worth of videos sharing myself I came up with different stuff everyday on my own I wanted audience to know i was a real person with drive and determination and share the videos over my platforms. They gave me tips on how to get my go daddy website going what words I should use to become searchable on the internet. They told me how to set up my google my business. He told me other tops like go to the businesses take a few lunch breaks and go introduce your business for corporate events and talk to my neighbors get the word out by any means necessary but as free as possible. So I started hosting events in my my driveway to get my feet wet and get use to crowds. Then I took on a challenge to get a a brand ambassador list and I was approved. Then I reached out to be selected out of 100 cities event to host my very own booze free party. Its May 15 I’m super excited.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner is my husband. We met over 20 years ago at a barber shop. I would drop off my 5 year for hair cuts. my daughter and I would wait in car reading our books. one particular day he was in the shop extra long. I peeped in to see what the hold up was I was frustrated since I knew each time I dropped him off he was always in and out no waiting he was asleep and his barber had forgotten about him siting up front. After a few more minutes a strange man walks out with him. I at this time opening the car getting the car seat ready. The guy motions for me but I ignore him and tell my son come on there are no cars coming so he can walk across the parking lot to the car. The guy follows. He says hello. The barber is standing at the shop doorway watching and saying something I cant hear. The strange guy whom is my husband of 20 yrs says there was no charge today for your inconvenience here is the money. Can we exchange contact information he already has is number written on double mint gum paper. I agree he calls the same night for a dinner date. I can agree since it was my moms grandma steak bake potatoes and salad night with my sister two girls and my two children. We go out dancing and that’s how my business partner and I met.
