Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tracy Altman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tracy , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice I give to all of my clients is to gain self-awareness. Through working with me, my clients learn about their body and their mind so that they can change small habits that add up to big transformation. Using this increased self-awareness has been pivotal for my clients in behavior change and mindset shifts that lead to lasting, long-term overall wellness. One client that stands out for me in particular was fully invested in becoming the best version of themselves. However, when she initially reached out to me, she thought she just wanted to lose some weight. In working with me in my signature 90-day program, she came to realize the work that had to be done before the weight could be released. I guided her through that work and in the 6 months following my program, using what she had learned with me, the weight melted off. In her words, “The growth inside of me is what I am proudest of. Tracy, thank you for believing in me and seeing a part of me I couldn’t see in myself and giving me the courage to change my life! ”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have always been interested in and passionate about health and wellness. I had a career as a School Counselor for over 15 years and during that time, from my research and experiences and in my own work with a health coach, I grew to truly understand that everything (mind, body, soul) is connected. I felt limited in the impact I could make working with students in schools around holistic wellness and I got to a point where I wanted to be able to apply a more holistic approach in my work with others. In August 2020, I was talking with a friend about wanting to make a change and she suggested I become a Health Coach. (Her nickname for me in our group of friends is “Fitbit”.) Long story short, by October I was enrolled in a certification program to become a Health and Life Coach. I finished that certification in 7 months and one year after that conversation with my friend, I resigned from my School Counseling position to focus full-time on my coaching business. It’s been a great career pivot for me- I am now fulfilling my life’s purpose and it feels great!
I am a Transformational Health and Life Coach. I work with people who feel overwhelmed with the demands and expectations of a healthy lifestyle. I help them overcome obstacles to empower them to align their mind, body and soul so they can enjoy life, not just survive it.
Health and wellness is not a one-path-works-for-all type of journey, it needs to be individualized and is best achieved with a holistic approach. My services are rooted in holistic well-being and what I refer to as the 4 Pillars of Health: Sleep, Food/Nutrition, Movement and Relaxation. My customized coaching programs address each of these pillars for my clients to achieve optimal health and overall wellness.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back, I would choose the same path that I took to get to where I am today. Without the steps in my path to get to this place, I would not have the skills and confidence to be where I am. My extensive counseling background and experience, paired with my dual health and life coaching certifications is what sets me apart from other coaches. I am highly skilled in building rapport and I create personalized programs for my clients. My approach is one that is tailored to ensure maximum results and success for each of my clients on their health and wellness journey. I am 100% committed to helping others see how living a healthy lifestyle can be fun and easy. I specialize in helping my clients bridge the gap between knowing what to do and taking action, empowering them to cultivate lasting change in their lives. My journey towards becoming a Health and Life Coach was driven by a desire to make a bigger impact by supporting others to achieve optimal well-being. With almost 20 years of experience as a Counselor, a Coach and a client of this work, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of guiding individuals towards discovering their inner strength and potential. I believe that the answers and solutions we seek are already within us. I don’t have all the answers and I don’t tell people what to do. But, I have a full backpack of tools that I use to help my clients harvest the answers and solutions that are already within them. I like to say that I am an instigator of awareness.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I am naturally curious about people, their backgrounds, their goals and interests. I have always enjoyed getting to know people and their stories. Knowing and connecting with people inspires me and I believe I was put on this earth to spread positivity and optimism, which seems especially needed these days. So when I get to know people and understand them and see an opportunity to help them, I want to do just that. I want to help them become the person they are meant to be, the person they deserve to be! These innate characteristics are paramount to my success as a Coach.
