We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tracie Kesatie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tracie, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
Compassionate support, individualized plans, and the whole family’s well-being are at the heart of what I do. Back when I became a sleep coach nearly 10 years ago, sleep coaching often felt rigid and impersonal. I recognized the need for a more supportive and understanding approach.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all solution, I championed creating personalized sleep plans that took into account each family’s unique situation, parenting style, and child’s temperament. This allowed for a more effective approach to sleep coaching.
Furthermore, I understood that sleep issues rarely exist in isolation. By considering the entire family unit, I could address underlying factors that might be impacting sleep, such as parental stress or underlying medical conditions. This holistic approach fostered a more sustainable and successful sleep environment for everyone.
Tracie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Helping families achieve restful night’s sleep isn’t just a job for me, it’s a deeply personal mission. My own journey began with my firstborn who simply struggled with sleep. Exhausted and overwhelmed, I devoured all the sleep coaching information that I could, only to find conflicting advice. There had to be a better way.
Fast forward nearly two decades. As a Certified Gentle Sleep Coach, I’m proud to say all four of my kids are well-rested and thriving. Now, I get to empower families of all backgrounds. We co-create personalized plans that fit their unique needs and parenting style, not a rigid one-size-fits-all approach.
But the most rewarding part? Witnessing the joy on parents’ faces when their child finally sleeps soundly. I’m the sleep coach I desperately wished for when I was a bleary-eyed new mom. Now, I get to share that knowledge and support with others.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word-of-mouth referrals have been my most valuable source of new clients. There’s something incredibly powerful about the trust and assurance shared between parents. When a family experiences positive results they naturally want to share it with others facing similar challenges.
For me it goes beyond just sleep solutions. I strive to provide a supportive and understanding environment where parents feel empowered and heard. This fosters a sense of community and confidence, leading to those valuable word-of-mouth recommendations.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation as a sleep coach is built not just on results, but also on the positive experiences I create for families. I believe genuine care and a willingness to go the extra mile truly make a difference. While providing effective sleep plans is important, for me, it’s never been enough.
Sleep deprivation in families can be a deeply emotional experience. Exhausted parents often feel overwhelmed and frustrated. That’s why I prioritize building a foundation of compassionate support. I take the time to truly understand each family’s unique situation, anxieties, and parenting style.
Going above and beyond means being a source of encouragement and guidance, not just a provider of instructions. It’s about celebrating small victories, offering reassurance during setbacks, and being readily available to answer questions along the way. This personalized approach promotes a sense of trust and collaboration, making the sleep journey smoother and more successful for everyone involved.
