Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trace Le. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Trace, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think it takes a lot of perseverance and patience to be successful. I would say success is also very subjective.
Trace, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Trace Le and I am a photographer, graphic designer, and animator. I started off as a self-taught graphic designer in 2020. Throughout 2021 I freelanced here and there for certain businesses and eventually was fortunate enough to find an internship as a graphic designer in September 2021. Since then I’ve been animating and doing lots of graphic design work for my company. Around April 2021, I finally found the courage to tap into photography, my first camera was a used Sony A7iii with a 35mm lens, which I still use to this day. I started off first by just tagging along with my friend’s music video shoots and shooting behind the scenes for them. It was really fun and I really didn’t mind it since it was a chance for me to practice. Around May of 2021, was a pop-up event for a local business name “Simple To Society”. I decided to just attend and take some pictures and later on, I shot my shot by sharing them with the owner of the brand. He ended up really appreciating the pictures and gave me a chance to shoot for his brand. Since then I’ve been shooting for Simple To Society, but also I had the chance to meet other brand owners and shoot for them! Eventually, through networking, I was able to find gigs for event shoots, wedding shoots, and others.
I think what I am most proud of, is seeing the growth in my work. Starting off I had insane imposter syndrome and was frightened for every shoot or every project I faced. But every time it became a little easier, through the support of my friends and other creatives and here I am still learning every day but having a lot more fun now than when starting off!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing that my clients and others are enjoying the work I put out! I really think it’s rewarding making someone’s vision come to life. Or even when I plan out a concept shoot, to have that come to life.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
A particular goal is to do more of what I love and less of what I don’t enjoy. I have a huge passion for fashion and editorial shoots and would love to do more work on that in the future!
