We recently connected with Toye B. and have shared our conversation below.
Toye , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Rawkicks the brand is apparel and accessories to match the latest kicks. Often we go get the latest kicks and everyone is buying the apparel available in store or there isn’t any available. Rawkicks provides more options to help you stand out from everyone else. Rawkicks is also a resell company that was started to provide a pre order service to sneakerheads who work on release day or simply don’t have access to the latest kicks.
Toye , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Rawkicks was established in 2015 as a sneaker reselling company. In 2019 we expanded the brand and became a clothing company as well. The clothing brand was originally supposed to be called something else but the original logo for Rawkicks was so awesome I decided to have it printed on shirts to match some shoes that came out at that time and it got such a great response we decided to make more items with the logo and keep it all under Rawkicks. You will get the best quality from Rawkicks. We have t-shirts, shorts, hoodies, hats and more. We are growing and getting better every year.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Honestly, word of mouth and referrals from other customers has been the best source of new clients. Another thing that works for me as far as getting more customers for the clothing side so the business is is having matching products on hand when I’m delivering there pre orders so they can see on had how well the items look together and the quality. I also do pop up shops to reach new customers as well.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I sell all my apparel on my website WWW.RAWKICKS713.COM. I also sell shoes on eBay, StockX etc. One of the pros of selling online is I don’t have any rent or overhead to pay on a location every month. One of the cons is I don’t get that connection to the customer because with the third party involved for authentic verification is we no longer get direct customer information. My customers from around the world were able to reach out to me for more orders before eBay added the verification service.
