We were lucky to catch up with Tory Travers recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tory, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
When I was 18-years-old I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. I was told I was a “young girl with a serious disease and it was only going to get worse”. I knew in my heart that I could heal naturally. I rejected the lifelong medication I was prescribed and went on a quest for natural healing.
10 years later and I am in the best health I’ve ever been. And what’s better? I know that being diagnosed with a chronic illness was the BEST thing that ever happened to me.
Life cracked me open, like she often will. This experience set me on a healing path – on a spiritual path. I am blessed and grateful to have studied, learned, and embodied much wisdom on how to support my body to heal itself. I truly believe your mess is your message. Now I have the opportunity to share and help others with what I’ve gathered along this journey.

Tory, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I believe in teaching from experience. There is a big difference between understanding something cognitively, and having a deep embodied sense of the same material. For example, who do you want to have make you dinner: someone who has read every cookbook but never made a meal? Or someone who has never read a cookbook but has made thousands of meals? I believe there is merit in studying. However, the true magic comes from actually implementing what you study and gaining life experience.
I learned how to heal naturally because my life demanded that of me. Now I am sharing the most transformational practices and tools with my clients. I specialize in helping people with chronic health issues because I’ve been there and I know what it’s like. A lot of my current work involves Trauma Resolution, because I believe that’s a big missing piece of the puzzle regarding chronic illness.
I support my clients in releasing trapped emotions as a certified Emotion Code practitioner. We all have emotional baggage and The Emotion Code is one of the most powerful, simple tools to release trapped emotions interfering with your health. I love this modality because you get to dialogue directly with your subconscious, and receive confirmation that what you’re doing is working. This form of healing is also less re-traumatizing than other modalities I have tried. You get to dialogue with the trapped emotions using your subconscious, rather than sitting in the emotion and hoping it gets resolved. A lot of the time, you don’t even need to know how the emotion became trapped (unless you want to). Our emotions want to be named and acknowledged. They want a moment of recognition before they’re ready to be released. The Emotion Code provides the framework to do this.
My mission involves empowering people. Online courses are an amazing way to learn specialized information, while eliminating information overwhelm. My brand new 4 week course, At Home Healer, teaches you 3 techniques to release trauma from the comfort of your own home: Acupressure, Trauma Release Exercises (TRE), and Breathwork. All of these techniques can be done without any fancy equipment. All you need is your body and your presence.
I have a background in chemical engineering, and I’ve studied a lot of metaphysical properties on my healing journey. The two fields have much more in common than most people think.
“The medicine of the future will be frequency medicine.” – Albert Einstein
If you believe you can get better, you can.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was that somebody outside of myself knows more about me. I think back to the day my doctor told me I was going to have to be on lifelong medication. What if I had listened? What if I had believed him over the quiet voice in my heart telling me otherwise?
There’s something I call the white coat effect: trusting your doctor knows more than you because they’re the ones in the white coat. I respect doctors. I believe we need them. However, NO ONE knows more about yourself than YOU!
Now as a practitioner myself, I make sure to remind my clients that I am simlply the guide. It’s important to trust your own intuition. Yes to seek out information and learn from others, while checking in with yourself to feel how that information is landing with you. There is no one size fits all. You are the best person to answer the question: is this for me?

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe the most important trait for success is love. Sounds cliche, but it’s true. By focusing on embodying love your clients will feel truly witnessed and cared for. By focusing on love, you will remain in integrity and only do things that are a win-win-win scenario; a win for your clients, a win for you, and a win for divine evolution. Love allows for greater compassion, understanding, presence, patience, and resiliency. A true LOVE for what you do and how you serve the world, is what carries you through the hard days.
