We recently connected with Torrey Montgomery and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Torrey, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My wife and I hit what we call our financial wall. My job I was working had cut my hours in half. My church I was pastoring had a major decrease in finances so I wasn’t able to get able to get a salary. We went from a decent middle class income to literally living not just paycheck to paycheck but from negative balance to negative balance. We start losing cars. Our house almost went into foreclosure and I started thinking there has to be a better way to live than this. One day in my search for more income. I went to a job interview. That job interview just happen to be a network marketing company. That company is what changed the game for us. It wasn’t that we moved up the ranks and made a lot of money in the company. It was what we became as a result of the personal development we learned in the company. It gave us exposure to levels and people and income that we didn’t know was possible. At the same time our church was to moving into a new location and I started preaching a series called “go next”. That series was so powerful people’s lives were being changed at such a massive level from entrepreneurs to leaders to business owners people were getting free from years of being stuck. We’re being changed to the point that I realized that this is something I could take to the marketplace and help people shift from their “now” to their NEXT,

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My senior year of high school I found out the week of graduation that I wasn’t graduating. It was pretty devastating at the time but I went from a GED to a global world changer. Dr. Myles Monroe made one of the most powerful statements that I have ever heard. He said” the greatest tragedy in life is not death. The greatest tragedy in life is life without purpose.” This put me on an irrationally, passionate, pursue a purpose what I realized is that my purpose is to help other people discover their unique identity, and become everything that they were designed and created to become. When I lost my church, he was all about helping people discover their identity in Christ. When I launched the business gonext it was all about helping people get unstuck. I realize that the reason most people are stuck is because of their mindset mindset. The mindset is either a bridge or a barrier is a bridge that can take it to the next level or a barrier that will block you, so I begin to learn how to reprogram the mine so that I can help people break the mental barriers that’s holding him back. Through GoNEXT I help leaders, influencers, and entrepreneurs become more productive, Progressive and Profitable. It’s really an incredible feeling since someone who has a dream, a vision or an idea, unlock that idea and see it come to past. One of my greatest honors is to watch other people succeed after they have taken one of my courses, or heard one of my messages or sent to one of my seminars. When I see the light bulb come on, and their life is changed drastically. That’s the greatest honor of my life. That is the legacy that I live for. .

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The first church building we had was a small building with a gravel parking lot and in the rain that parking lot would get muddy and dirty and just really nasty. One particular Sunday it rained really hard. After church was over I went outside and got in my car ready to leave. I hit the gas and the car didn’t go anywhere. I was stuck in the mud. , I realized the more I hit the gas, the more stuck I became. The wheels were spinning but the car was going no where. Eventually I had to call a tow truck to pull me out of the mud because I couldn’t do it on my own. Here’s why this story is important to this conversation. I learned one of the most valuable lessons about business. I like so many others have been stuck going full speed on the gas and going no where. The only way I was able to get moving was some else came with the tools and skill set that I was missing. In order to get your business or idea moving you have to connect with someone who has the skills, strategies, and insight that you’re missing. That’s the importance of coaching and mentorship.. The fact is… You can’t do it on your own.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
One day I was sitting with my mentor and I asked him a question I asked him how do I get on more stages? How do I get more clients and he said something that was very profound he said stop looking for clients and make yourself findable. So I’ve been on a quest to make myself findable. That means consistency key. Posting on a regular basis content videos constantly putting yourself out there so that while people are scrolling they’ll find you and you’re what they’re looking for. Another strategy for social media is short videos like reels or YouTube shorts or tick-tock videos that are 30 seconds no more than 60 seconds. I’ve learned that you want to give people enough that they will keep looking for more.
