We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Torie MP a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Torie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I was always a creative kid; crafting, building, and imagining worlds. The second I learned it could be my life, it was all I could think about. I was constantly on the lookout for ways to express my creativity; whether it be drawing, writing, cosmetology, sewing, photography, and editing. I wanted to learn and do it all! Luckily, having grown up with the growing popularity of the internet, I was able post these creative musings on blogs, and social media. I started as a hobbyist, like most, and as I continued to learn more skills and play with the ones that spoke deeply to me, I was able to put them out into the word.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I definitely consider myself a “Jack of All Trades, Master of None” type of person. However; I think that it can be a superpower. Once you let go of the compulsive need to be the “best” at something, you open yourself up to learning and trying so many new skills. Some you love and excel at, others are a total bomb. Even now my “hands are in so many pots”, creating marketing material for clients, teaching aerial to my students, filming and editing for social media and YouTube, collaborating with brands, and running my little urban farm. There’s no boundaries to what you can do or who you can be.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media can be a tricky thing, while my personal motto of being a “jack of all trades” is fantastic for my daily life, it’s not always the strongest tool for social media. There is an aspect of finding your niche when putting yourself online, but that doesn’t mean you can’t continue to explore those other sides of you. My suggestion is keep it simple and keep it separate. I love helping people build and grow their social media!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing your visions come to life. While also accepting that some visions are going flop, or age poorly. It’s all apart of the process. You have the opportunity to try every weird idea that pops in your head, so go for it. Don’t let the fear of failure stop you!
