We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tori Vargas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tori below.
Tori, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story! I always wanted to pursue a career in science, as my entire undergraduate degree was planning to go into nursing or medical school. Pre-med academics was intense with studying, memorization, clinical research, tests, and peer reviewed literature. It was everything I needed to know for a successful, mainstream healthcare career. I was great at it, but the regurgitating of textbook information and the memorization of drugs and diagnoses didn’t resonate.
My personal health experience was a defining moment in my career, but that’s usually the case for anyone who ends up pursuing alternative medicine. We only turn to nature’s cure after the technical, modern day healthcare system has failed us time and time again. I experienced a debilitating autoimmune reaction triggered from a pharmaceutical drug. I went from perfectly healthy to locked in a hospital room within 24 hours as my body started shutting down overnight. I couldn’t walk on my own, stand up on my own or shower on my own. After about ten rounds of chemotherapy, blood transfusions and steroid treatments the doctors’ only solution was to tell me I needed chemotherapy every year as “preventative medicine”.
Unfortunately, western medicine couldn’t explain the root of what happened to me. This is where the obsession to find healing began. Instead of agreeing to yearly chemotherapy and staying trapped in the cycle, I have pursued preventative care and true healing as a Regenerative Health Practitioner.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Tori Vargas, a Regenerative Health Practitioner and Clinical Iridologist. You’ll find me as “Detox Tori” across the internet, where I provide educational content, courses and programs to help people get past chronic disease and achieve true healing. I have gotten to a place where I solely rely on myself and my body to manage my health, without needing external drugs or second opinions. I want to help as many people as I can achieve this type of freedom too.
I found that training in alternative healing doesn’t come from a traditional college degree, and I had to get comfortable with that idea. I had to get comfortable with the fact that my credentials will be questioned every day. But, with studying everything within the field of regenerative health, I can surely say that I know more now than I learned in my entire college degree. I began studying with the goal of healing my own body from an autoimmune condition and the aftermath of chemotherapy treatment. It all started with nutrition, but the more I learned the more I recognized that this field wasn’t giving me the healing that I knew was possible, the field of regenerative health is the only thing that has brought me true healing.
I had to break down any preconceived opinions on nutrition, because everything I started to learn was opposing western medicine dietary guidelines. I became addicted to studying about natural healing, because it truly feels like I unlock superpowers with every piece of wisdom I come across. My experience has led me down the path of now helping others across all age ranges and with a wide variety of chronic conditions.
I know how to truly heal through detoxification of the body, regeneration of cells and tissues, and restoring balance of minerals, vitamins, hormones, and enzymes.
I know the word “detox” has become mainstream with the rise of detox teas and juice cleanses, but it means more than that. I came up with a simple equation to explain this: detox = removing the waste + restoring the body.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
In my experience, the most important thing is to remain open to new philosophies and not get pigeon-holed into one ideology of healing. There are so many methods developed to remove waste from the body. We have juicing, fasting, parasite cleansing, fermented foods, and liver flushing just to name a few. I’ve found that all of these methods are rooted in truth and we can utilize all of them together to find healing.
I’ve had the opportunity to learn from several teachers, mentors, detoxification retreats, and certification programs. It was important for me to seek out many different sources, philosophies, and opinions within this one field.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I do a great job of articulating complex topics in a way that’s easy to understand. I have been able to create content that is clear, concise and entertaining. I have made a routine of having real-time conversations with my community where I have proven I can answer most questions thrown my way. I feel grateful that people resonate with my style because it inspires them to take action with their own lifestyle changes.
It’s important that all of us have this information, we all have bodies and most of us have symptoms of some type. This knowledge shouldn’t be impossible to understand, I truly enjoy making sense of it and sharing with my community.
