We were lucky to catch up with Tori Kim recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tori, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea?

Hi! My name is Tori and I am the owner of Thoughtfully Curated Boards, specializing in cheese + charcuterie boards.

It all started off as just a hobby of hosting family/friends until one of my close friends (who is also a small business owner) gave me a little push to start my own. So in September of 2020, I began the process of creating my very own business and shortly after- I started receiving actual orders, which was the best thing ever!! Fast forward a little bit and we were growing much more quickly than I could have ever anticipated. During this time, I also had a full time job in logistics, but it got to the point where it started to be too much to handle both. All good problems to have! But I got to a point just a couple months ago where I had to make the big decision of leaving my day job and pursuing this full time. I now have opened a storefront in Johns Creek, GA and I feel so incredibly lucky to be living my dream! I am SO thankful for all the customers/clients that have supported my small charcuterie business and everyone I have met along the way.

I am eager and excited to continue growing and can’t wait to see what our first year with a storefront turns into!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

All platforms of social media (Facebook, Instagram, Google, etc) have all been the best source of old/new clients for our business! I mean…who doesn’t love cheese?!

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

I started off with all ordering being completely online through our website. I now have the privilege of having my own storefront in Johns Creek so you can now place orders directly in the shop, along with our website still being available.
