We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tori DuBose. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tori below.
Alright, Tori thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
One of the things my mom did right when raising me was letting me go down my chosen career path. The Art field is a complex industry to be in and my mom never once discouraged me from traveling down this path. She understood my personality and that I needed a more creative outlet and a more flexible work schedule. She also didn’t want to do to me, what was done to her growing up. Her creative outlets were stifled and it is one of the things that she has talked about wishing it had gone differently for her.
Tori, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Tori Danyale and I am an Interior Designer based in Celina, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design from the accredited University of North Texas in 2017. I actually didn’t know anything about Interior Design when I started college. I was an undecided Art major and my drawing II professor is the one who suggested Interior Design for me. I took the Into to Interior Design and was hooked! When I graduated, I started working with an Interior Desiger who has been in the business for about 20+ years. I’ve learned a lot and received great first-hand experience. As I start on the journey of starting my own business, I am taking into account all the things I learned while working with this designer and implementing the things I learned from classes I’ve taken over the years to approve my knowledge in running a business.
I want to provide great service to my clients with a design they will love for years to come. I want to bring natural materials, colors, and textures to the clients that choose me to be their designer. I want to make the design and remodel as smooth as possible by being very communtive of the process and being a calm and knowledgable professional.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to create a business that my children could be proud of. I want to be able to retire my mom and take care of her at least a fraction of what she did to take care of me. I want to basically break generational cycles of poverty, struggle, and miseducation of a better living and how to obtain it. I want to bring better opportunities for my children as well as teach them the hard work and dedication it takes to get the things they want from life. My fiance and I have big dreams for the life we want to live and I feel working hard on my business and having a steady flow of clientele will help us achieve that dream.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I think the biggest thing I wish I knew more fully about is taxes and how to properly plan for them. Having a CPA that you trust that will help and guide you on making the best decisions with your money I think is key and being so young in the business, that can be an overwhelming process to start.
