Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tori Diaz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tori Diaz , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
I got my first job in the field by creating the job for myself. I applied at several companies’ and clinics. They would not hire me without experience and as I explained to them I cannot get the experience if they would not hire me and the cycle went around and. One day I just prayed and I got the revelation to create my own title and business and this is how it sparked and here we are one year later!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Here is the funny story: I was on my own weight loss journey and after losing 204 pounds without surgery I wanted to show other women how they can do the same as well. My journey also includes being a survivor of human trafficking and domestic violence and I know our outside is only a fraction of who we are but as women when we look better we feel better so I help women to not have to use surgical procedures everything we do is non-surgical and non-invasive Laser Lipo, Emsculpt, Red Light Therapy, Hot Sauna for Detoxing, Lymphatic Drainage. These methods heat up and bust open fat pockets or deposits and it is drained or discarded by sweat, urine or stool going to the bathroom in layman terms. Our recommendation is to have 6 to 12 visits but yes this is how it started.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your firm or practice?
Funding a business is hard I was working a full-time job making below what I am worth. The money I was making I saved (this is true story this is a true life story) I saved my money and I put money to the side not getting my hair or nails done for quite some time (laughing) I kept my hair in a safe style and I opened my business actually with $598.00 God put this on my heart almost 5 years ago. Yes, it was SELF-funded when I tell you it was self-funded I funded my vision myself and people laugh at me but it’s a true story!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The story is for months I did not have anyone coming in my door I did not have the money for marketing or for advertising so I would just sit there my pastors came to the office and prayed over it as did my “NOW” husband’s and I would just sit there and I would come in and decorate and just say God you will send the people to help me with my vision I had $89.00 in my account and I used $25.00 to put an ad on Craigslist I know Craigslist right? But I did, I tried it and I posted a job for a Business Development Manager or B.D.M. Letting them know up front and transparent I do not have the money to pay them this will be commission. One beautiful person answered and she said I will help you and at this time I was not working a full-time job I was just praying God would send me someone to help me with the business and she’s helping me to this day and thank God for her but you have to keep going even if you do not want to get up you have to get up it is important for you to get up and keep going and keep going.
