We were lucky to catch up with Tori Cummings recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tori, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
My passion for my business started during my senior year of high school. 2019 was the year where I decided to sell t-shirts to my family, friends, and classmates. For some strange reason, I always knew that I wanted to be more than just a guy that sold t-shirts. I wanted my brand and myself to stand for something deeper than that. And that is where the idea of LuvlessLosers Club originated from. My brand “LuvlessLosers Club” is a streetwear designer brand that focuses on the concept of self-love. But for me that concept didn’t just come out of thin air. I had to take a huge step of faith. The main step I took was making sure I held myself accountable and stopped procrastinating. As entrepreneurs we delay our journey because we scare ourselves with self-doubt instead of just walking out on faith and trusting in our vision. The next step I found pretty challenging was finding the name for my brand and creating the perfect social media outlets to post content on. Lastly, the most troubling barrier that I came across was having to stay up long nights communicating with manufactures overseas and trying to find the best person that can bring all of my designs to life. Looking back on it, the main puzzle piece was figuring out that the only person stopping you from achieving your dreams is you.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a 21-year-old college student from Atlanta, Georgia, majoring in business management and administration. I own a clothing brand named LuvlessLosers Club, which is a streetwear designer brand that spreads the meaning of self-love through its designs. In this world we tend to love others more than we love ourselves. That’s the reason I started Luvless, because it’s the action of loving others less and loving yourself more. One thing about LuvlessLosers Club that sets me apart from other brands, is that we offer high end fashion pieces in unisex sizes for an affordable price.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What built LuvlessLosersClub’s reputation in the clothing market was the custom clothing items, professionalism, and amazing quality products. The custom clothing items play a huge part in the self-love motto that Luvless teaches to its customers. My professionalism creates a reliable service to all of my customers that makes them want to continue shopping with me. Lastly, the products that I release are nothing but great quality. I also say within my clothing brand I rather produce quality over quantity, and this is also a huge factor that contributes to my reputation in the clothing market
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There were many times in my journey where I just wanted to give up, however I made a promise to myself when I first started this brand to never quit and that’s what kept me going. There was one time where I invested most of my revenue into this new line, trying to expand my audience. However, I didn’t have the right marketing strategies to reach this new clientele. So, I ended up taking a huge loss because I wasn’t really able to make a profit, however that didn’t stop me at all. What that situation taught me was to persevere and continue to make a name for Luvless by any means. For me personally, I believe that the best lessons come from making mistakes and experiencing losses. From my point of view this only teaches me how to better manage my brand and how to expand LuvlessLosers Club to a different level!
