Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Torean Thomas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Torean, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
My whole life has been risks! Not going to college, moving away from my family, and traveling around the country were all big risks. I had no real plans or focus was just drifting. I eventually decided after some scam experiences with “agents” in NYC to move west. The closest I could get was to Las Vegas with the end goal someday being LA. I got stuck in a beautiful life full of amazing friends, amazing experiences and cherished memories. It was a struggle for many years but i worked my way up. I had everything you could want, the american dream, a six figure salary, my dream car and a house. This is really where I answer this question, my biggest risk was leaving that all behind, moving to LA and chasing my dreams of being an actor. To be fair, I still have the car HA!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I work as an Actor in TV and film. In high school I thought the theatre kids were kind of dorky, but I respected them for having something i didn’t really, passion. I actually wanted to be a detective, true story.
With a growing list of projects under my belt, I strive to become better and better at my craft. Some things you can watch me in currently ” Davids Story on Youtube”, “johnny wongs rockabilly reviews on youtube, historys greatest heists on History channel, The family ornaments on Tubi to name a few.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Being an Actor is extremely hard! We are eternal job seekers who face near constant rejection. sometimes it feels like shouting into the void sending an audition in the ever popular self tape era and hearing NOTHING. Its tough and requires resilience, patience and even more, dedication and a belief in oneself that borders pure insanity.
Even when you do book the gig, when its over, you’re unemployed all over again!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Not long after moving to LA the business slowed and the strikes happened. I was acting here and there but mostly living off of my savings. I had to get a job again, something I was not wanting to do but had little to no choice. We have become hustlers wearing many hats trying to make ends meet while still pushing with all of our might to fulfil our creative needs.
