We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tonya Seavers Evans a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tonya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

For so many women, they have dedicated much of their lives to supporting others – their husbands, their children, etc. Once they reach middle age and have children who are less dependent, they are often at a crossroads with what to do next. I am really excited about launching a series of courses and workshops coming in January 2024. One of the courses is called from Here to There and it was created to help women uncover dreams that they may have delayed or goals they may have put on the back burner until now. We use the concept of mapping on that dream on a napkin first and then create a strategy to help them get from where they are to where they want to be.

The other workshop is called Sequins to Success. So many of the women that I coach have an incredible backgrounds and life experiences. In this workshop we help them think of ways to monetize their experience and backgrounds around their passions.

I am so excited about bringing these workshops to help women create the next stage of their lives. Midlife cand be the good life if you map it out!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Tonya Seavers Evans and I am founder oof Sequins to Success created to help women command the stage of their lives. Having prepared clients for the Ted Talk international stage and trained at the prestigious London Image Institute, I have extensive experience prepping leaders for the media, teaching women how to be camera ready in their every day and coaching women through lifestyle reinventions.

In her workshops, she combines her years of corporate marketing experience, image consulting training and hundreds of intimate conversations with women to guide them through transformational experiences. In addition, Tonya discovers the best in products and services for women over 40 in her work as a spokesperson, speaker and influencer.

My journey to workng with women on their transformation journeys really came out of my work as an image consultant. I would talk to women about why they wanted to update their image and it was almost always around a big goal that they were trying to get achieve whether that meant a promotion, launching a business or a journey into philanthropy. This is an extension of the work that I was already doing – now I help women with the image transformation and in creating their transition plans for what they next step will look like.

As an influencer, my goal is to provide ageless inspiration as a fashion and lifestyle blogger. As this stage in life our lives are so rich and showing all aspects of who we are – vibrant, ambitious, beautiful, sexy – is very rewarding and fun!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

The core of my business started around image consulting. But after many years, I realized that number 1) customers would ask me for complimentary services and ask me if I provided coaching services; and number 2) I love working with my image clients but I was looking to expand my business and continue to work with my clients. In your business, it’s important to really listen to your clients and almost every time they will share their challenges and what they need. Your job is to listen to that feedback and input and find a way to fill that void. Through my courses and workshops I was able to do that and it still aligns with my overall mission which is to help women package their genius.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

It sounds nuts but I would have built a relationship with a virtual assistance from day one. Even if that meant only 3-4 hours per month, I think that support would have helped me scale more quickly and helped me develop systems as my business grew.
