We were lucky to catch up with Tonya R. Harris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tonya R., thanks for joining us today. Have you ever seen (or implemented) a really awesome way to show a client you appreciate them
The best thing I do for my clients is listen and get to know them. As a result, ninety-five percent of my business comes from referrals. I always tell them how honored I am they chose me to assist them with selling or purchasing a home. Also, I create personalized gift baskets for my client’s closings, that reflect who they are and what they like to do. I enjoy doing crafts and shopping, so creating baskets is therapeutic. However, It is bittersweet because I know the transaction is ending, and I will miss the daily interaction necessary to purchase or sell a home. I make it a priority to keep in touch with my clients throughout the year. One way I do that is by sending them a home anniversary gift as a small token of my appreciation, and I often meet previous clients for coffee, lunch or dinner. Based on my testimonials, my clients feel special, and they often say they had a realtor now they have a friend.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
For more than twenty years I have nurtured a proven excellence in coaching, organizational development, program development, and business management. Prior to obtaining my Real Estate license, I held various positions, which included COO of Big Brother, Big Sisters, Vice President of Chapters and Councils with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Director for the Boys and Girls Club. Additionally, I managed North and South Carolina for the Women’s Business Council, which assisted women business owners in growing their businesses. Several of these position were key in developing my exceptional negotiation skills, phenomenal customer service and communication skills.
My fascination with the real estate industry started when I was a child, I loved attending open houses and glancing through home decorating magazines. My imagination would run wild with visions of family gatherings and my future children playing in the yard. It was not until much later that I understood home ownership was a way to build wealth. After obtaining an MBA, working in Corporate America and non-profit, it was a natural progression into the real estate industry. Working in real estate gives me the unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of many while assisting them with building wealth.
What sets me apart from other listing and buyer agents, in addition to my corporate leadership experience, is my passion for serving, high business acumen, interior decorating and staging skills, enthusiasm, and attention to detail. I am most proud of finding homes for individuals who never thought they would be homeowners. I partner with organizations that assist individuals with closing costs, down payment assistance and credit repair.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been referrals from previous clients and real estate agents, who have put their licenses on hold for various reasons.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe my social media branding (TikTok, FaceBook, Instagram), staying abreast of market shifts and industry changes, being authentic, honest, and responsive, has helped me build my reputation in the real estate industry.
