We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tony The Detail Guy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tony below.
Tony , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
Finding good help it’s finding people to work after the pandemic and getting local detailer in the area to work together and to stop under bidding on jobs if we all worked together in a sense like all staying in the same price range we would have to seem like we’re working for peanuts at time let’s say a client call s and I explain that a detail consist s of and that my detail s start at 150$ and the client calls another detailer and does it for 50$ how could we set a standard in our own prices and the quality of work we put up I know it not busy every day but we all do it hopefully for the love of detailing but most do it for the money that’s why I’m starting Our Family Networking Group were we take care of us first and then the world a place were we can help one another be more successful cause as much as as I want to clean ever car in the us laI can t so when I’m busy I always tell them to call another llocal Detailer ll Jay at 5Star auto detailing and we been helping one another since the day we meet one hand washes another
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I truly love auto detailing I been doing it for over 25yrs and never had 1 bad review because If I say I can’t restore you paint or head light I’m not going to do it or try and figure it out if I can’t I’m pretty sure it can t be done after 25 years I’ve seen almost ever senerio when it comes to auto detailing
Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
The Pandemic says enough lost it all and I m still dealing the effects of it .Everything will bounce back sooner or later .
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Be honest and communication is key I’ve never had a bad review in 25years ” knock on wood” cause I take the client though the process and what to expect especially in this day and age where it s hard to speak to anyone face to face and i always gaive a follow up call and ask for an honest review on line and if they any referrals and ask if there is anything we may have missed if ask the client what day and time works for there next maintenance detail in 2weeks and I also tell them about our referral program if they offer a referral this is very important to me to communicate with my clients cause if you think about a person’s vehicle is the second highest purchase there home being the first you have to build to last in this business
