We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tony Sartain. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tony below.
Tony, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Being around other individuals with the same passion was key because I was able to study in learn simply by being a student at least how I looked at it. Honestly wouldn’t speed the process up because at the time I was not ready so being patient is something that was applied in my path in helped me as a creative. Being able to to work with some great locals and celebrities thought me a lot just being present on sets or shows was dope but it was not always easy because not knowing what was a good job to take or not because some people would try in take advantage of the opportunity in connections I had which would push me away from the learning process.
Tony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the Editor/Chief of Appear magazine is a high fashion Editorial spread that allow my viewers to take a look around the world of how fashion is seen in different countries, well as tapping into music, culture, and lifestyle. Before I created my magazine I was doing assistant styling work with individuals and designers before in decided to branch off and do my own styling work which landed me a few gigs, so I’m also a published celebrity wardrobe stylist. When starting my business I didn’t know what to expect I thought the worst but my support system along with my beautiful wife who also help me with the magazine with celebrity interviews over the phone, everyone continues to keep me positive and push when I had to come over obstacles. Allowing God to take control over whatever I touch definitely set me apart from other individuals.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Definitely getting out in the city In networking and collaborating with different individuals from photographers,MUAs.models Etc anything that was acceptable to me I made sure to connect.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Simple just seeing the growth in knowledge which I’m still learning as things change everyday but I get to look at old projects ,my published work or articles like this it make me happy just knowing my work is being seen all over.
