We recently connected with Tony Nava and have shared our conversation below.
Tony , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
What sparked my creative path, is the day I came to Atlanta. I took photos occasionally in 2018, but nothing seriously or creatively at all. Wasn’t until around 2019 is when few friends told me about a local studio in Atlanta called Cam Kirks Studios. The day i went and stopped by I will never forget it. All the portraits they had up, the people I met that were inside, and just the culture that surrounded the place. I never knew this existed and that you could do photography on this creative level. That’s when it sparked, and I wanted to become an artistic creator
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey my name is Tony Nava, I go by as na.vuh on social media. I am 22 year old Mexican-American photographer/ cinematographer based in Atlanta GA. I started with portraiture photography than added event, product and bts photography to my portfolio. The time covid hit, I picked up Videoagraphy and started shooting music videos, small commercials, and events. While learning video, i had the chance to work under different video production companies. Over time I got chances to work with bigger names and do more artistic projects. I now offer creative content services to help brands, companies, and individuals grow. When I’m not working with clients, I love working on photo/video passionate projects for myself to later share with the world.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
To support artistic creators, people could share, spread, and interact with their work. Meaning, when a creative shares their artwork, a person should let them know how they did and interact with them. Also sharing it around for others to see would be a huge help. In today’s society, everyone should be able to grow because of how fast social media spreads. It’s only up to people to help one’s creative journey.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
To be a creative full time is the hardest but happiest thing someone can do. It means they can create what they love and make a living off of it. To do what you love, and work on your own time is a huge reward.
