We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tony& Kathy Demaio. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tony& Kathy below.
Hi Tony& Kathy , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Opening our shop was a huge risk. The market in our area is saturated with tattoo shops so we needed to do something different, something to stand out.
First was the design of the shop, the aesthetic in the shop is very different from other shops. It’s very soothing and almost spa like. Getting a tattoo, especially for a first timer is nerve-racking, we wanted people to feel at ease as soon as they walk in.
Second is the personal service we give our clients. We work very closely to achieve their perfect tattoo. We design every tattoo to the client’s specifications .
Third, people walk in as clients and walk out as friends!!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was an art student at Visual in NYC and decided to take what I created on paper and put in on skin
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The look on people’s faces after they see their finished piece. Tattoos can be very personal to a person’s journey or trauma they’ve had in their life. If we can give them some kind of peace or comfort when they look at their tattoo that makes it all worth it
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Just having an online presence a few years ago would have been so beneficial. Social media has really become the most important tool in getting our name out there
