We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tony Del Angel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tony below.
Alright, Tony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started off just doing chiropractic and realized that patients would go to their primary care doctor and would be given a diagnosis and some pain medication or anti-inflammatories. If that didn’t help then the patient would go to another provider and be given a different diagnosis and a different therapy. If that didn’t work then the patient would just keep going to the next provider with the same results. What ends up happening is patients would be driving all over town trying to get the treatment that they need and every provider is saying something different and they don’t know who to believe. The patient ends up just taking pills because it’s the most convenient thing to do and it ends up being a downward spiral for the patient. At Gonstead, we created an environment where we have multiple providers all in one location so that patients can get one opinion, one treatment plan, all done under one roof. This has led to a 98% success rate in patient care and growth of multiple offices. Our mission is to change the way healthcare is delivered so people don’t have to suffer anymore.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Dr. Tony Del Angel, and I’m the founder of Gonstead Physical Medicine — a multidisciplinary health clinic rooted in one mission: to change the way healthcare is delivered so people don’t have to suffer anymore.
My journey into this field wasn’t just professional — it was personal. I saw too many people being failed by a fragmented healthcare system: bounced from one specialist to another, handed prescriptions for symptoms, not solutions. I knew there had to be a better way. So I committed my life to building a model that focused not just on pain relief, but on regeneration, stability, and long-term healing.
At Gonstead Physical Medicine, we offer a powerful fusion of services under one roof — chiropractic care, functional rehab, spinal decompression, naprapathy, red light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, shockwave therapy, and more. Each service is carefully selected and integrated into a proven 4-step process that has led to a 98% success rate when patients follow through with their care plans.
But here’s what truly sets us apart: we don’t throw random therapies at symptoms. We bring together a team of experts from multiple healthcare disciplines to give every patient one clear diagnosis, one unified plan, and one team guiding them every step of the way. That kind of clarity and collaboration? It’s rare — and it changes lives.
We specialize in treating disc herniations, degenerative disc disease, arthritis, chronic pain, neuropathy, and post-injury recovery. Our ideal patients are men and women 40 and up, especially those who feel like they’ve “tried everything” but are still in pain. They’re looking for answers. We’re the place where they finally find them.
I’m most proud of the thousands of lives we’ve helped transform. When someone who couldn’t walk without pain dances at their daughter’s wedding… when someone told they’d need surgery avoids it entirely… when a chronic pain patient says, “I feel like I’ve got my life back” — that’s why we do this.
For anyone reading this who’s suffering and feeling like they’re out of options: you’re not out of options. You just haven’t found the right team yet. My promise is that we’ll listen, we’ll look at the whole picture, and we’ll fight alongside you to get your life back.
We’re not just treating bodies — we’re restoring hope.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most defining chapters of my journey was when I made the decision to go beyond traditional chiropractic care and begin integrating other therapies — like functional rehab, red light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, naprapathy, PEMF, and spinal decompression — into a single, unified system. I believed deeply that if I could bring these powerful tools together under one roof and wrap them into one treatment plan, we could get people better faster, and more completely.
But not everyone agreed. In fact, the pushback was intense — especially from within my own profession. I had colleagues in the chiropractic community openly criticize me. Some even sent emails demanding that I change the name of my clinic because they said what I was doing wasn’t “pure Gonstead.” It was hard to hear — not because I questioned my intention, but because I was watching something I loved evolve into something better, and others couldn’t yet see the vision.
While navigating that criticism, I was also working tirelessly behind the scenes to figure out how to actually make it work. It wasn’t enough to believe in the idea — I had to build the systems. How do you integrate all these therapies without overwhelming the patient? How do you train your team across disciplines? How do you communicate clearly, create seamless handoffs, and scale something this complex without losing quality?
It took years of trial and error. Hiring and training staff that could thrive in this kind of interdisciplinary environment wasn’t easy. Creating the communication systems — between providers, case managers, rehab, front desk, and patients — required constant refinement. But I refused to quit, because I believed so strongly in the vision.
And now? The same profession that once criticized me has started calling. Doctors from around the country reach out and ask, “How did you build this?” They want to learn how to replicate the model, how to lead with purpose, and how to truly transform healthcare delivery like we’ve done at Gonstead Physical Medicine.
To me, resilience is staying committed to a vision no one else can see — yet — and holding onto it long enough to watch the world catch up.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
In my opinion, this is the most critical aspect of running a successful business — hands down. Managing a team and maintaining high morale isn’t something you “do when you have time.” It is the job. Businesses don’t move people — people move businesses. That’s why I’ve made it my priority to invest deeply in developing leaders within our organization who are aligned with our mission and committed to growing alongside the company.
I spend a significant amount of time working on leadership development, creating what I call an employee maturity model. This gives our team members a clear vision for how they can grow, evolve, and move up within the company. It’s not just about promotions — it’s about maturity in communication, accountability, problem-solving, and the ability to handle adversity. I believe in developing leaders who are willing to walk toward the fire — to lean into challenges, engage in healthy conflict, and find solutions instead of excuses. That’s how real growth happens, both personally and organizationally.
Culture is everything to me. If I sense morale dropping — whether from monotony, misalignment, or selfishness creeping in — I don’t hesitate to address it. I act quickly to realign the team, bring clarity, and reignite our collective energy.
At the end of the day, people need to feel like they’re part of something meaningful, that their growth matters, and that they’re surrounded by others who are rowing in the same direction. That’s how you create not just a high-functioning team, but a movement.
