We recently connected with Tony Chang and Tony Lozano and have shared our conversation below.
Tony, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My business partner and I loved to golf almost every other day and every weekend. We are very good at golf but we love to have fun doing it. The goal of a professional golfer wasn’t a dream of ours but we wanted to contribute to the golf community in a way that we could have a positive impact while having playing the sport we love so much. We put our heads together and found a couple of ways we could be influencers and create fun content while helping out. Once we put these ideas onto paper we were immediately hooked. We did a sort of crash test one Saturday to see how we could pull off the content and what we would need. The test went better than expected and we never looked back after that. We created the LLC for Two Dudes and a Cart and have never stopped creating golf content since.
Tony, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We got into the Golf Industry because we absolutely love the sport but that wasn’t enough for us to create a brand, We wanted to create a brand/business to contribute a positive experience for golfers of all skills and give a platform to everyone who loves golf but aren’t necessarily pros or for people who can’t afford top tier golf courses. We created Two Dudes and a Cart to give this platform to underperforming golf courses or courses that need more exposure for the average golfers. We began by doing course reviews and highlighting specific pros and cons so golfers who aren’t necessarily knowledgeable on the course know which courses will best bang for their buck. We provided difficulty grades to show amateur how easy or difficult it will be to golf at the course. We want to highlight the fun factor of each course as well. Highlighting drink deals, best food menu items, even going as far as showing which holes can provide the most found golf balls. We also have recently launched a garbage cleanup initiative to help cleanup golf course and provide a cleaner experience for first time golfers and as an added bonus, we are giving back to the community and making the world a more beautiful place. Over the last year if we had to give one thing we were most proud of it would our sense of community. We have inspired others to join our initiatives and bring people come together. We share our goals and ideologies and we bring people together. We want our potential followers to know more about our initiatives and the goals we have set. It is only the beginning of a bigger picture and we could use all the help we could get. The opportunities for our brand are endless and we have many big things to come.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
In our industry there a couple rewarding aspects. The first would be the sense of community, its very rewarding when we are with strangers on a golf course and we bring out the best versions of those people. We are focusing on a common goal and encouraging others to compete not only with the people around them but with themselves. The second aspect is we have the privilege to do what we love and we have a whole audience to help us get better. We are allowed to be critical of ourselves and what we are striving to do and in turn this allows us to provide a better experience for our golf community. The most rewarding aspect is we get authentic feedback from people and this allows us to be better at what we do.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
We have a few contributing factors on what drives and fuels our journey and why we do what we do. The first would be we want to give back to the golf community. We love the comradery and how golf brings everyone together and want to contribute to that. We want to provide opportunity for those who don’t have full access to the sport and we want to open potential doors for people trying to get into the sport. Our main goal is to build a meaningful brand that reflects our goals and mission to make not only the sport but the community a much better place. The sport of golf has given us a lot and we want to give back as much as we can.
