Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tony Belleti. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tony, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
If i could go back in time, i don’t think i would change a thing honestly. I’ve been so blessed with the opportunities I’ve been given that I’m just happy to be alive and well with the will, and ability to chase my dreams. I started making music seriously when my brother introduced me to a now good friend named Duwana. My brother initially introduced us, because he wanted to start a bible study group. Upon meeting Duwana he told me he makes music, and that we should collaborate together. This would spark a curiosity in me that led me to start thinking thoughts like what would happen if i pursued music as my career. The first session with Duwana i told him that i wanted to cover Title Track by Machine Gun Kelly, and he pulled up a youtube instrumental for the song. I thought it would me easy since i had the song memorized, but that’s the day i realized if i wanted to make this my full time job, then i need to put the hard work, and dedication forward to make this more than a hobby. That was 2023, and i look back at those first couple session, and appreciate how far i came in my musical journey. So i could say that i would change this or that, but I’ve learned that hindsight is always gonna be 20/20, so instead of complaining about the things i could change, I’d rather take it as a lesson meant to help me improve upon what went wrong in the first place. That being said, i believe everything happens for a reason, so no i wouldn’t change a thing.

Tony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, my name is Tony Belleti, and I’m a singer/songwriter who makes alternative rock music. I like to dabble in other styles within the rock, and hip hop genres, but pop punk is where my heart is. Music has been a part of me my whole life. I can remember hearing bands like, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and Evanescence coming from my mother’s room as she would get ready for the day. Years later my grandfather would bring my brother, and i into his room after our showers to listen to everything from The Moody Blues, and The Beatles to The Doors, and Pink Floyd. He opened us up to all types of genres from classical composers like Mozart to the sounds of Mowtown greats like The Temptations, and The Four Tops. If you told me then that i would go on to make, and release my own music i would’ve said you’re crazy, but now that dream is beginning to look more possible everyday. I’ve met so many artist that i respect since my first concert in 2021(which was Mod Suns Internet Killed Rockstar tour), and have done so much musically that i have to see where it leads me. For example, my current proudest moment was in Asbury Park, New Jersey, when my boy Zaqq was set to be an opener for Stunna Gambino, and Jay Critch. On this day Zaqq Told me that he would get me a ride from South Philly to the House of Independents where he was opening, and not only did he get me in free, but i was able to get on stage with him, because my boy Muuu, and i were his media team for the night. This showed me anything is possible with enough effort, and determination, and my mission in life is to inspire, and uplift anyone i cross paths with. Whether that’s in person or through the speakers.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
That would have to be my battle with my mental health. I come from a chaotic household in a family with a history of mental health struggles such as, ADHD, bipolar depression, and schizophrenia. Unfortunately, I’ve dealt with all three of those, and the most debilitating one can be schizophrenia. It wasn’t until i was 17 that i realized i had it, and it took the better part of three years to feel better. After my hospitalization i was on guard everyday pretty much, worrying about what would happen if that took place again, and since that event in 2017 i haven’t been back in the hospital thankfully, but this year i realized that it’s not gone after having a couple episodes. I’m still pursuing a career in music though, so i said all that to say if you have anything you wanna do in your life, then give it all you can, because a life lived seems more fulfilling than a life full of regret. I don’t know what my life will become in 5 years or even 10, but i know what i want it to be, and that vision is what keeps me pushing forward.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
That life was hard when i was growing up, and that it would be easier as an adult. If i had listened to grown ups as a kid who told me to stay young for as long as possible, then maybe life wouldn’t have hit so hard, but i stopped blaming everyone and the world for things like that, cause life is hard for everyone, whether young or old. I think that everyday is a learning experience, and whether i like it or not the learning never stops.
