Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni Moore.
Hi Toni, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ever since learning about what lawyers did while attending the Milton Hersehy School, I knew I had to be a lawyer. Upon graduation from high school, I went to the University of Pennsylvania, then later Temple Law School–twice. After law school, I started out as a litigator in hopes of righting ancestral wrongs. Instead, I found myself doing Toxic Tort Litigation and Insurance Defense. I later switched over to family lawyering and civil litigation where I practice law for almost 10 years. But I later found my niche serving as a Business Lawyer that handled prelitigation disputes, nonprofit compliance, contract negotiations, trademark litigation, and business continuity and protection planning. I so love what I do!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m an African-American woman who comes from a background that included trauma, limited financial support and negativity. Nothing about emerging as an empowered woman slaying life, leadership and entrepreneurship was easy. Life was so hard! But my drive to achieve was stronger. To encourage others to overcome life experiences to fulfill a greater destiny, I wrote a book entitled, Uplevel Your Life. Throughout the book, I outlined how I overcame my childhood issues that impacted my identity, how I fought to overcome expulsion from an Ivy League University and how I achieved my dream of creating a six-figure side hustle. But my biggest achievement was giving myself permission to expand beyond my hurt, trauma, and fear of being stuck in a socio-economic class that no longer serve me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Since business is a game, the legal side of business should not be ignored. At my consulting firm, Legally Chic Services, we help business owners, Nonprofit CEOs and celebrities handle the legal side of business. Whether assisting with business compliance, leveraging law, registering for intellectual property protection or negotiating business agreements, or empowering Nonprofit CEOs to boss up their companies, we serve as our client’s strategic legal partner. Over the past ten years, my legal consulting firm has helped thousands of individuals hire, fire, protect, and secure millions of dollars in revenue. The majority of this money was earned by First-Generation BIPOCs who turned their brilliance into millions. And the money earned fueled their ability to Boss Up their financial story BEYOND their life experience, circumstances, and realities. Knowing that I helped othwrs monetize, secure and protect their intellectual makes me feel as though I’ve contributed to serving as a financial disruptor who makes wealth possible.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I like seeing people who come from nothing turn their ideas and intelligence into intellectual propert. I dislike when people try to sideline, preclude and sabotage BIPOCs endeavors to transform their financial stories. I believe God has given each of us the power to attain wealth. And I do whatever I can to facilitate and protect their ability to so so– legally of course.
