We recently connected with Toni-Ann Mckenzie and have shared our conversation below.
Toni-Ann, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
One important lesson I learnt is that being adaptable is key to any successful career or business. You must always up your skills and keep educating yourself about your job

Toni-Ann, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a travel content creator, born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. I have been in content creation and travel for about 5 years, I started traveling about 7 years ago, my first trip was a solo trip to Cuba, I chose Cuba because of the vintage vibe I was into photography and I enjoyed taking photos there. I started documenting my experiences and people kept on asking me questions about my travels. When social media came around, I started my page and ever since, I have been documenting my travel journey around the world and in my home country of Jamaica.
As a travel content creator, I work with individuals, brands and small businesses. For brands and small businesses, its really creating User Generated Content (UGC) to help promote their travel business or brand. For individuals, it’s creating authentic Jamaican itineraries.
I think what sets me apart from others is just being authentic, I put the client first and I create content for my audience and not myself. The truth is without my audience I wouldn’t be successful.
I am proud of my success as a Jamaican Travel content creator working with big international brands like Virgin Voyages, Samsung, Moneygram, and Thrillist. I am also proud when my content has helped someone to book a trip to Jamaica or any travel experiences
My brand is about helping others to make the best decisions when it comes to travel and choosing a place to visit.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is connecting with my audience. I love that my content has inspired and motivated persons to visit Jamaica or anywhere I have visited.
It also the freedom of doing what I love and making alot of connections, I have met some amazing people on my journey.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
That we are humans, we make mistakes, and we are not perfect. We do sometimes suffer from impostor syndrome.
What you see is the tip of the iceberg. Its a journey of trial and error, the self-doubt, the late nights, the learning curves, the unpaid hours, and the passion that keeps us going even when no one’s clapping. Find inner circle of trusted friends to uplift you
