Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tommy Marudi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tommy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
Before I started my journey in the food truck world I was on the Food Network show THE GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE hosted by chef Tyler Florence , The theme of the show was busisness boot camp and each episode covered a different asspect / lesson of business managing . At the begining I thougt it was just a gimic and didnt take it too seriously but as we proggressed I understood that they are teaching key points to managing a business like time managment and social skills . Sometimes when you watch a TV reality show you think that its scripted but on this show every lesson had a meaning and is practiced today in our business. Chef tyler florence gave us real advice on and off cameras and led us to wining the show . I would definetly say that Chef Tyler Florence is my hero and turned my life around
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Tommy Marudi and here is my story of how I started the Noods truck .
After winninig the hit TV show THE GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE Season 5 on foodnetwork we started our business The Middle Feast food truck , we have accomplished many goals and served in LAs biggest festivals and events and I felt that I need to express myself even more with new flavors and a new concept and Noods was born .
Noods is a modern noodles concept that brings flavors from around the world and gives customers a great new pallet adventure , with creative noodle dishes like The Mexicana , which is a Birria based broth with latin flavors and spices , or our Thai Bomb which is a green curry based broth , Noods will deliver a unique expereince .
We have been serving at LAs biggest music festilas and events such as West Hollywood pride and many others and cater large venues such as the crypto/LA convention center .
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Managinig a team is one of the hardest things in a business especialy in the food truck world where there is hard physical work and long hours . My advice on doing this succesfuly is treat your employees like they are partners in your business and make them know that they are an essensial part of your success . I work with the team in the kitchen every day and them watching me work with them in the kitchen gives them a feeling that I am connected to them and their work
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Social media has been a huge part of our business but since we work on the streets we have to engage with custorems on a daily basis , therfore great customer service is a must in our business , I think that social media is great but without actualy enganig with customers it would be diffucult to grow a social media base ,
